Thank you to everyone who joined us this morning for our first-ever technical seminar, Compliance Compass, designed specifically for angel groups, venture capital investors and early-stage ecosystem leaders.

Across the session, we explored the key legal, tax and regulatory considerations following the UK Government’s latest Budget, helping investors and fund managers better navigate what’s next for early-stage investing. Our expert panel shared practical insights on the measures most likely to impact venture and angel investment, alongside thoughtful discussion and audience engagement. It was fantastic to see such strong participation and to hear the quality of questions and discussion in the room!

One Year of the Invest in Women Taskforce Fund - but one slice still missing.

Today at 116 Pall Mall, UKBAA’s Executive Chair Jenny Tooth OBE joined women leaders from across the angel and venture ecosystem to celebrate the first anniversary of the Invest in Women Fund, now at £635m.

With a birthday cake made by women-founded bakery Astrid - intentionally created with a “missing slice” - they highlighted the gap that still remains in funding for women founders and women investors.

Jenny Tooth OBE says “UKBAA is a proud supporter of the Invest in Women Task Force, and our latest report with IWT and Beauhurst shows that women angel investors remain just 14.1% of the total angel population. We are working hard to take leadership to address the lack of women angel investment, but we need more support across the industry to achieve our goals and unlock the ‘missing slice’ of risk capital enabling more women angel investors and women-leading early-stage funds to back great women founders across the UK.”

A great afternoon last week at the UKBAA x Connected Places Catapult Clean Futures Investor Lunch.

We brought together a select group of investors for an intimate pitch session spotlighting some of the most promising clean tech and transport-innovation founders coming out of the Clean Futures Accelerator.

Investors heard pitches from Power Up, Hy-Met, Raeon and Earth Savvy - all developing solutions that are pushing the transition away from fossil fuels and transforming rail, automotive, and wider mobility supply chains.
