At 6 weeks, when your scar is fully closed over, there are no stitches, staples, infection, or bruising under the skin, you can start scar massage.

Take your time.
If you’ve not been able to touch your scar until now, dont worry! You are not alone.

Start off lightly, sweeping your fingers forwards and back over the scar.
Take slow deep breaths.
Use a good scar cream or oil.
After sweeping your hands over your scar, you may want to try a circular motion over your scar. Then zig zag lines over your scar.
Go at your own pace, never rush
Start off with 5 minutes a day and build up.

What helped you with your scar at 6 weeks?

☀️ Did you know your scar has no natural SPF protection?

That’s right — scar tissue is much more vulnerable to sun damage, which can lead to burning, increased sensitivity, discolouration, and slower healing.

🧴 To protect your scar, it’s important to apply SPF 50 whenever you’re outside — ideally for at least 5 years after surgery.

👉 For smaller scars, a sunblock stick is super handy — you can roll it directly over the scar and reapply as needed. And where possible, try to keep the scar covered.

✨ Did you know there are now silicone gels and scar treatment lotions that contain SPF protection too? These offer the benefits of scar care and sun protection in one!

C-section scars are a powerful part of your journey into motherhood — but they don’t have to feel tight, itchy, or painful.

Many women are told “it’s just a scar,” but the truth is, a C-section goes through seven different layers of tissue — skin, fat, fascia, muscle, peritoneum, and more.

Each of these layers is meant to move and glide independently, but after surgery, they can become stuck together through adhesions. This creates a “pinned down” scar that can limit mobility, cause discomfort, and even affect your posture and how your core functions.

🌿 With gentle, non-invasive scar therapy, we can help:
✨ Soften scar tissue
✨ Release adhesions between layers
✨ Improve mobility and circulation
✨ Support better core muscle engagement
✨ Ease tension in the surrounding tissues and organs

The abdominal area is home to your core, organs, and connective tissue — and when things aren’t moving well here, it can ripple out into other areas of the body. Even if you don’t mind how your scar looks, it’s worth taking care of how it functions.

Let’s take care of your scar from the inside out — so your body can feel supported, strong, and free. 💛

Send me a message if you’d like to chat about how scar therapy can help.

Manual scar massage is such a great way to start engaging with your scar and can make a huge difference in the way it looks and feels.
✨ Slide your fingers forward and backward along the direction of your scar.
✨ When you feel ready, start to add gentle circular motions and zigzags.

I also provide personalised scar massage videos and techniques for you to do at home after your session. These are tailored to your specific needs so you can continue your treatment at home and speed up results.

🎗 Caring for Your Skin After Radiation Therapy 💖

Radiation can leave skin feeling sore, dry, or tight—especially after breast cancer treatment. Here are my top tips to support healing and comfort:

🧴 Ask Your Radiation therapist or Oncology nurse
Always check which creams are safe to use during treatment.

💧Post-Radiation Favourite: Alhydran
This medical-grade cream is wonderful after treatment—it hydrates, protects the skin barrier, relieves symptoms, and supports the healing process during and after radiotherapy.

👚 Wear Loose, Soft Clothing
Breathable fabrics made from natural fibres like cotton or silk help avoid irritation on sensitive skin.

🚿 Be Gentle After Washing
Pat skin dry—don’t rub. Then apply a fragrance-free moisturizer.

🌹 My Top Oil Pick: Rosehip Oil
Packed with omegas 3, 6, 7, 9 and vitamin C—nourishes, hydrates, and supports collagen. Mix with cream for extra care.

🥤 Hydrate & Eat Well
Water + a diet rich in protein and omega-3s helps the body heal.

☀️ Sun Protection is Essential
Even after treatment ends, protect the area:
Wear long sleeves, hats, and trousers
Use SPF 50+ sunscreen

💆‍♀️ Scar Therapy Helps
Gentle touch can ease tightness, improve flexibility, and calm sensitive areas.

📍Sessions available in Maida Vale & Crouch End

Even if your DIEP flap scar looks great on the surface, you may still be experiencing underlying issues like:

✅ Tightness in the tummy or around the stomach
✅ Difficulty engaging core muscles or exercising
✅ Hip pain due to scar adhesions
✅ Loss of sensation from nerve damage
✅ Itchy or raised scars
✅ Lower back and hip discomfort since surgery

In this case, the lady noticed that since her surgery, her lower back and hip have been affected—sometimes causing pain when swimming or doing other activities. This is more common than you might think! The changes in your abdominal area can impact overall posture and movement patterns, leading to muscle imbalances and discomfort.

A combination of scar therapy and Bowen Therapy is the best holistic approach—scar massage to soften adhesions, restore sensation, and improve circulation, combined with Bowen to release tension and address muscular imbalances.

DIEP flap surgery is a major procedure, and your recovery symptoms are valid. You don’t have to just live with discomfort—support is available.

If any of this sounds familiar, get in touch to see how I can help. 💕

Yeah, I know—these little patches on my skin might look a bit weird or awkward sometimes. But guess what? They’re doing the work! 💪✨

It still amazes me how something so small can have such a profound impact on my body. Earlier this year, when I had the flu, I was struggling with awful sinus pressure. I thought, if these patches have been helping me in such a big way, why not try them for this too? And once again—patches to the rescue! The relief was incredible.

These amazing LifeWave patches support the body’s natural healing process, reducing pain, speeding up recovery, and boosting overall well-being—without any supplements or chemicals. Just pure light therapy, backed by research. 🔬

Honestly, this tech isn’t going anywhere. One day, patches like these will be a regular part of self-care routines! I, for one, am so grateful for the support they’ve given me. 💕

Have you ever tried them? Or are you curious but not quite convinced yet? Let’s chat! 💬👇

Emmett and Bowen therapy

The EMMETT Technique is a unique form of body therapy for both people and animals, that involves the application of light finger pressure at specific points to release the tensions in muscle and muscle groups. The result is often instantaneous physical change, that results in pain relief and improved range of movement.

It is truly a complementary therapy as it works well as a standalone treatment but combines powerfully with all other bodywork such as massage, Bowen therapy, chiropractic, physiotherapy and craniosacral therapy as some typical examples.

We provide Emmett short courses to non-therapists and therapists.

The EMMETT Technique and Bowen Therapy are not intended to replace or substitute any medical advice or treatment. It is recommended that you consult your General Practitioner about any health concerns.
