Here are some of the most common pregnancy symptoms you might experience:

• Fatigue as your body increases blood production and works overtime
• Nausea or morning sickness, especially in the first trimester
• Food cravings or aversions due to hormonal changes
• Bloating and indigestion, which can appear at any stage
• Backache or pelvic pressure as your baby grows
• Mood changes - completely normal as your hormone levels fluctuate

Every pregnancy is unique, and understanding your birth options can help you feel more confident and in control as you prepare for your baby’s arrival. Whether you're considering a hospital birth, home birth, water birth, or midwife-led unit, each choice comes with its own benefits and things to think about.

From pain-relief preferences to where you feel most supported, learning about your options early can help you make the decisions that feel right for you and your family.

It’s also the perfect time to consider stem cell collection at birth. Storing your baby’s umbilical cord blood ensures these precious cells are safely preserved and potentially available for future medical use - an incredible gift of protection from day one.

Your diet during pregnancy should largely follow the healthy-eating tips you already hear about, with a few tweaks to support both you and baby. Think of food as your superpower! ⚡

• Fruits & Vegetables
Aim for five portions a day. These can be fresh, frozen, tinned or dried. Different colours = different nutrients. Wash them thoroughly. Even 150ml of fruit juice counts as one portion (but try not to rely too much on juice - whole fruit is better).

• Good Carbohydrates for Energy
Make about one-third of what you eat wholegrain or high fibre carbohydrates - wholemeal bread, brown rice, quinoa, oats, wholewheat pasta. They’ll keep your energy levels steadier.

• Protein
Essential for baby’s growth. Include protein from lean meats, fish, eggs, beans, pulses, nuts. It needn’t be fancy - simple beans on toast, or a chickpea curry, can do wonders.

• Dairy or Alternatives
Calcium is super important now, for strong bones & teeth (both yours and baby’s). If you’re using plant-based milks, pick ones fortified with calcium & vitamin D. Yoghurts, cheese (safe ones - see below), milk: all helpful.
