You looked… good.
Normal.
You didn’t even think you looked good at the TIME, but looking at them now, you’d give anything to look like that again.

It’s Sunday night and you’re doing it again…
Making the plan.
The fresh start.
THIS is the week.
You’ve cleared out the biscuits.
You’ve meal prepped.
You’ve set your alarm for the gym. You’ve written down your goals.
You’ve told yourself THIS TIME will be different.
Monday: Perfect.
Tuesday: Pretty good.
Wednesday: Had a stressful meeting, ate the biscuits someone brought in.

You’ve been putting off booking that doctors appointment.
Not because you’re scared of what they’ll find …. But because you’re scared of getting weighed.
Of the nurse saying “let’s just pop you on the scales” like it’s nothing.

Of seeing that number.
Of her writing it down.
Of the doctor saying “have you thought about losing some weight?” as if that’s never occurred to you.

Stop trying to fix your metabolism with a calorie deficit.

I know that sounds mental, but hear me out.
When you're over 40 and you cut calories, three things happen that nobody tells you about:
Your body downregulates thyroid hormones (T3 specifically) to conserve energy
You lose muscle tissue faster than fat because elevated cortisol is catabolic
Your leptin levels crash, which increases ghrelin (your hunger hormone)

Translation: You slow your metabolism, lose the muscle that burns calories at rest, and end up HANGRY

This is why you can white-knuckle your way through 1,200 calories for three weeks, lose 4 pounds, then gain back 7 when you finally crack and eat normally again.
