Dear patients,

As some of you will be aware, I have been on a waiting list for surgery over the past year. I have finally been given a date which is on Friday 13th March and I will be off work for 4 weeks. Apologies for the short notice, however I have only recently been notified myself.

The clinic will continue to run in my absence and I have organised a colleague, Mrs Jamie Rose, to cover my patient list during this time (see her bio and picture below).
Jamie has 16+ years experience as an osteopath and is fully insured and registered with the General Osteopathic Council, so you will be in good hands. She will have access to all my patient notes and will therefore be able to see what previous treatments you have received from me. Please note that Jamie will be bound by GDPR regulations, therefore all patient information will remain confidential.
Jamie’s treatment approach will generally be similar to my own, however as I’m sure you can appreciate, all osteopaths can vary slightly from each other depending on their post graduate training and areas of interest. If you wish to speak to Jamie before having a treatment with her, she is very happy to to do this. Please call her on 07875 208477.

Jamie is planning to continue my usual clinic hours in both Looe and Millbrook to minimise disruption. You will be able to continue using the usual clinic telephone numbers 01503 262254 (Looe) and 01752 822430 (Millbrook). You can also continue to email us at info@wholebodyosteopathy.co.uk.

All patients who are ALREADY booked in during this 4-week period will be contacted to check that they are happy to see Jamie instead of myself. If you are one of these patients, please feel free to reply to this email with your decision, to help minimise the number of calls I have to make!

If you have any questions regarding the above, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Jamie. Indeed, if you wish to book in with me before my operation, my last treatment day will be on Thursday 12th March.

If I don’t get to speak to you before, I will look forward to seeing you all on my return from Monday 13th April onwards.

Jamie’s Biography:
After graduating from the European School of Osteopathy in 2009, I worked in various associate positions before buying a small list in Honiton which I developed into Rose Osteopaths. This included expanding the practice to include a satellite clinic in Ilminster. At this time, I met my then husband and decided to take a sabbatical to travel full time abroad in Turkey and Greece.
On returning to England in 2014, I bought a small multidisciplinary practice in Exmouth which I ran throughout covid, leading a team of practitioners. I sold it in 2023 however after my partner had a stroke. Not running a business, has enabled me to focus back on simply working as an Osteopath now which I still absolutely love.
I am now happily single and live in Exmouth with my collie, Alfie, and have time to pursue other interests making for a really great life/work balance.

Good news…. We now have a massage therapist joining us at the Looe clinic!

Chris Southwell (from Ayurveda Cornwall) is an experienced, fully insured massage therapist of 14 years. She is also a certified Ayurveda Medicine Consultant, Aromatherapist and NLP practitioner.

Soft and deep tissue massage works well as a stand alone treatment. It can also enhance Osteopathy, helping to improve muscular flexibility and function, increasing circulation and calming the nervous system.

Chris will be offering massage treatments for all types of patients, including sports people. If required, she can work together with your osteopath to discuss your goals and optimise treatment.

Treatments available:

Specific muscle groups i.e. back/neck, legs/hip/knee £50 (45 min)
Massage for Sports People £60 (1hr)
Lymphatic Drainage £65 (1hr)

Christmas Hours At the Clinic:

The final treatment day before Christmas will be TUESDAY 23rd DECEMBER. We will then be closed between Christmas and New Year and will re-open week commencing 5th January.

Emergencies over Christmas:

Although the clinic is not open between Christmas and New Year, Yvonne will be available to speak to patients on the phone for help and advice if needed. Please call the clinic number and leave a message and Yvonne will call you back.

A notice to all Looe xmas shoppers…. There is FREE parking on both Buller Quay and West Looe Quay from 8am Saturday 13th Dec until 8am Sunday 14th (and the same again on Saturday 20th Dec. You just find a space and park. There’s no ticket and no use of the Parkonomy app required!

Remember that the Tinsel Tractor Run is on Sunday 21st Dec.

Gosh, is it really February already?!
I’ve been checking in with patients on their New Year resolutions. As always, more exercise and healthier eating were popular ones.

My advice has been simple. Don’t go all guns blazing and make your goals too unrealistic or painful. If you achieve your goals in the first few weeks, you are more likely to continue.
With exercise, don’t run before you can walk so that you’re exhausted and hurting.
With healthy eating, making a couple of tweaks here and there to help you develop the discipline. Then next month you can build from that and make another tweak.

Good News - the road closure is ending!!

For those of you that do not know, the current road closure is due to end this Friday 29th November. There will instead be traffic lights controlling traffic in both directions, which will be in place until January 2025.
