Low Mood?

Seasonal Affective Disorder or SAD affects many people. Shorter, darker days, relentless rain and longer nights can have a negative effect on mood in many people. If you combine that with everyday problems, feeling lonely or even bored, it’s a recipe for a low mood, lack of motivation and sometimes anxiety. If you are feeling like any of the above, therapy can help you get back on track.

The brain believes what you tell it. Be careful of the words you use especially to yourself, about yourself. For example, notice how your body feels and where you feel it especially if the statements are negative. Notice how, if you soften those words, without it being an untruth, you feel it in your body on a lesser scale. Clinical Hypnotherapy will help you understand how to craft your words and modify your responses.

HAIR LOSS IN MENOPAUSE- Hair thinning or hair loss can happen to anyone at any time and it can be a complicated task to discover the cause or causes. If however you notice shedding and thinning in peri menopause, menopause or post menopause then likely hormones are responsible! The decline in oestrogen during this time is often the reason and then the delicate balance between oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone is disrupted. There are many oestrogen receptors in the scalp and the decline in oestrogen means that hair can thin and growth often become finer. Stress and anxiety, often a symptom of declining hormones just adds to the problem. So what can be done? Forget fancy expensive shampoos and claims of cures. You may want to consider HRT to help with all symptoms of the menopause. You may also want to look at therapy to manage anxiety, yoga, pilates, reflexology, meditation etc. Talk to a doctor with special interest in menopause and research so that you are informed.

Get creative in these long dark rainy days. Start to enjoy drawing, painting, sewing and crafting. Soon we will be able to get into the garden as well. We go into a state of waking hypnosis when creative and the focus of attention is on the task in hand.
Improve motor skills, calm brain activity, reduce anxiety and depression. In other words, being creative in a positive way definitely improves mental health! This is especially important as an adjunct to more formal therapy work.
