Happy Saturday 🤗

A little standing sequence from this morning’s kick start session.

Testing balance, hip and spine mobility, and adding some upper body work for co-ordination 👍

It’s amazing what you can achieve with just 15 minutes of movement.

Have a fabulous Monday 🤗

Hi everyone, are you having a good weekend? I hope so.

Getting ready for the week ahead with our Pilates classes.

Have you had the chance to read this week’s newsletter yet? It’s all about the comfort of familiarity.

Our classes offer this, moving together, routinely, same place — whether that’s the comfort of your own home or in one of our venues — at a time that you have specifically set aside for your Pilates practice.

Familiarity doesn’t mean standing still though because whilst the environment and surroundings give you that familiarity, the Pilates will be progressing, with little differences to help you move more freely, with more purpose, and effectively for how you are feeling in that particular moment.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and Jenny, Mary and I look forward to seeing you in class.

Thank you for joining me in class today … fabulous to move together 🧡

This week’s exercise of the week in tomorrow’s newsletter is the cork screw stretch … hope you love this as much as I do.

For posture, mobility of shoulders and upper back, opening up chest, for better breath and of course lengthening the spine … what’s not to love. 🧡

Ready to start a new week of Pilates?

In person at one of our venues or online, we hope you are enjoying classes so far in January.

Have you had time to check out this weeks newsletter? I have been completely obsessed with The Traitors, and it got me looking at how convinced people become that they are right, with or without evidence. I’ve written a little piece about standing your ground about being right and how it feels when you discover you aren’t.

There’s also a lovely stretch sequence of the mid-section of the spine (muscles targeted are the quadratus lumborum).

And of course an update about all of our classes.

Enjoy your weekend, enjoy the read, and I’ll see you in class.

🧡🧡🧡

Since starting teaching Pilates, it has always been really important to me to be able to offer alternative positions and modifications of exercises for everyone in class.

There are always ways of moving so that we challenge the body appropriately, without causing additional stress, and strain.

It’s simply because we don’t have perfect bodies. They don’t always move in the way we want them to, or feel the way we expect them to.

For whatever reasons, could be injury, could be specific conditions, such as arthritis, or it could be just how you are feeling on one particular day.

So if you are considering attending a Pilates class, but worried that you aren’t able to weight bear through knees, or wrists, or through the hips. Or maybe you don’t like lying on your stomach … please don’t let this stop you from giving a class a go. Just explain to your teacher and they will provide the alternative, or adapt an exercise for you.

Even in my online classes, I will provide alternatives and modifications — sometimes I am up and down like a … well you know … but it means we all move in the best way for our body.

Happy Friday everyone, and let’s keep moving together 🧡

Looking forward to seeing my Tuesday Morning Movement class today.

Come and lose track of time as you focus on being right in the moment.

Give yourself permission to just be right there, connecting mind and body as you move.

These moments build emotional resilience, lift the mood and leave us feeling more like ourselves.

9.30am join me live in zoom, or catch up later 👍
