๐๐ World Diabetes Day โ 14 November
Today, we recognise World Diabetes Day, a vital moment to raise awareness, challenge misconceptions, and support everyone affected by diabetes.
At KASE Care, this day holds special importance. We work closely with individuals and families living with diabetes every day, ensuring they receive safe, personalised, and knowledgeable care. Understanding diabetes isnโt just part of our training, itโs part of our commitment to delivering the highest standards of support.
๐ Why this day matters to us:
Diabetes affects millions worldwide, and early understanding can save lives. For those living with Type 1 Diabetes, daily management is non-negotiable and can be life-saving. Recognising symptoms, understanding insulin dependence, and knowing the difference between diabetes types is crucial, not just for health professionals, but for the public too.
๐ Type 1 vs Type 2: Why the difference matters
Type 1 Diabetes (T1D):
โข An autoimmune condition
โข The body does not produce insulin
โข Not linked to lifestyle
โข Requires insulin from diagnosis
โข Symptoms can appear suddenly
Type 2 Diabetes (T2D):
โข A metabolic condition
โข The body becomes resistant to insulin or doesnโt produce enough
โข Often linked to lifestyle, age, or family history
โข May be managed with diet, medication, or insulin
โข Symptoms can develop gradually
โ ๏ธ Common symptoms of diabetes to be aware of:
โข Extreme thirst
โข Frequent urination
โข Unexplained weight loss
โข Fatigue
โข Blurred vision
โข Slow-healing wounds
โข Increased hunger
Early recognition saves lives, especially with Type 1 Diabetes, where symptoms can be mistaken for minor illness until they become critical.
At KASE Care, we stand with everyone affected by diabetes and continue to champion compassionate care, education, and awareness.
๐ Together, we can make a difference.
