Today, our wonderful residents embarked on a festive adventure aboard the train 🚂 at Epping Ongar Railway 🚂 for a magical Christmas 🎄 memory train ride.

Departing from North Weald Steam Railway Station, they were swept into the enchanting forest 🌳, enjoying joyful Christmas carols, mulled wine, and delicious mince pies.

The highlight was meeting Santa 🎅 himself, spreading holiday cheer, and our naughty little Elf 🧝 enjoy time with the resi

Every year, we decorate our tree with beautiful Christmas bubbles, but this year we decided to get creative with a special marbling craft using a spare ornament and the residents. They did an incredible job alongside students from Foundation School, creating vibrant, abstract bubbles. It was messy, but absolutely worth it for the stunning results.

The Christmas craft season has begun!

Our residents kick off festivities with a joyful pomander workshop alongside the lifestyles team and our new student, Ozi.

The room is filled with a delightful fragrance of oranges and cloves, creating a warm holiday atmosphere. They also crafted flower arrangements that residents loved, later adorning their doors with these cheerful decorations.

This week, our residents enjoyed a wonderful visit from the Epping Forest Cubs.

The children brought along frames for each resident to decorate together, sparking joyful interactions and heartfelt conversations.

They also met Treasure, our adorable tortoise, giving lots of cuddles and smiles.

To officially kick off the Christmas season, the children sang carols that filled the room with warmth and cheer.

They visited residents in their rooms, singing and handing out beautiful Christmas cards they created themselves.

A big thank you to the 18th Efs Scout Group for such a delightful visit— we look forward to seeing you again next year!

This month, we visited our beloved Musical Memories performance, where her beautiful voice helps our residents travel back in time.

The traditional and cultural old English songs are always close to their hearts, and they sing along with joy as soon as they hear the first note.

Sometimes, the one-on-one moments are quite emotional, as residents' passions are evident, touching both them and those witnessing.

This session is especially meaningful because the singer knows each resident personally and performs the songs they love most, creating a warm, heartfelt experience.

Today, in celebration of National Tree Week, we went to pick out our Christmas tree and discovered a charming nursery right on our door step the Connaught Farm Nurseries near Epping Forest. The owner greeted us warmly and shared that their trees are imported from Norway, including the special tree that will be prominently displayed at Trafalgar..

Did you know? The Trafalgar Square Christmas tree has been a Norwegian tradition since 1947. It's a majestic Norwegian spruce, often over 20 meters tall and between 50 to 60 years old, symbolizing gratitude for Britain's support during World War II. The tradition began in 1942 when a Norwegian commando brought two spruce trees to London. The first tree was displayed in Trafalgar Square in 1947. Each year, the tree is carefully harvested in November during a ceremony attended by the British Ambassador to Norway and the Mayor of Oslo, then transported by sea and lorry to London.

We also found an article about this tradition, where you can see that they mention the Nurseries that we went today, which I included in this post.

We're excited to plant a new tree in our garden right after the festivities conclude!

On a chilly day like this, why not enjoy a fun game of bowling?

The residents had an amazing time, especially at the new location in Stratford that the team carefully selected.

They returned to the care home full of excitement, eagerly sharing stories of their memorable day with fellow residents.
