👀 Your eyes tell a bigger story than you think.
Regular eye exams do far more than check if you need new glasses—they can detect early signs of conditions like glaucoma, diabetes, high blood pressure, and macular degeneration before symptoms even appear.

Most vision changes happen gradually and can be easy to miss. A routine test ensures you’re seeing clearly and that your overall eye health is protected.

✨ Book your eye test today and give your eyes the care they deserve.

😴 World Sleep Day – Friday 13th March 2026

Do your eyes feel dry, tired or strained after a long day on screens? You’re not alone. Increased screen time and poor sleep habits can contribute to eye fatigue, irritation and reduced sleep quality.

World Sleep Day is a reminder to look after both your sleep and your eye health. Simple steps such as limiting screens before bed, taking regular breaks and ensuring your prescription is up to date can help keep your eyes comfortable.

If your eyes are often feeling tired or strained, it might be time for an eye test.

March is Brain Tumour Awareness Month 💛

Some brain tumours can affect vision, so it’s worth knowing what to look out for.

If you notice any of the following — especially if they’re new, getting worse, or persistent — speak to a healthcare professional:

• Changes to vision (blurred/double vision, loss of vision, new blind spots)
• Frequent or worsening headaches (especially mornings)
• Nausea or vomiting with headaches
• Seizures (even a first-time seizure)
• New problems with balance, speech, memory, or personality changes

A routine eye examination can sometimes pick up signs that need further investigation — and if you’re worried about your eyes, we’re here to help.

🌐 Safer Internet Day 🌐

The internet plays a huge role in our daily lives — from work and education to staying connected with friends and family. While Safer Internet Day focuses on protecting ourselves online, it’s also a great opportunity to think about how increased screen use affects our eye health.

Spending long periods on digital devices can lead to symptoms such as:
👁️ tired or sore eyes
👁️ headaches
👁️ blurred vision
👁️ dry or irritated eyes

To help protect your eyes when using screens:
✔️ Follow the 20-20-20 rule (every 20 minutes, look 20 feet away for 20 seconds)
✔️ Ensure good lighting and reduce screen glare
✔️ Blink regularly to avoid dry eyes
✔️ Consider lenses designed to reduce digital eye strain
✔️ Encourage healthy screen habits for children and young people

Regular eye examinations are especially important in today’s digital world, as they help detect early signs of strain and ensure your vision is properly supported.

If you have concerns about screen time, digital eye strain, or your child’s vision, our team is here to offer advice and support.

🟣 Did you know February is AMD & Low Vision Awareness Month? 👁️💜

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the most common causes of reduced vision, affecting central vision — the part you use for reading, recognising faces, and seeing fine detail.

✅ Early signs to look out for:
• Straight lines looking wavy or distorted
• Blurred or patchy vision in the centre
• Needing brighter light to read
• Struggling with fine detail (even with glasses)

If you’ve noticed any changes, don’t ignore them — early checks matter, and there’s support available to help you stay confident and independent.

🏉 Six Nations starts — make sure you don’t miss a thing. 👀

Fast play. Quick passes. Tiny scoreboards. If you’re squinting at the TV, struggling to follow the ball, or your eyes feel tired after a match, it could be time for an eye check.

Signs your vision might be holding you back:
👀 Blurry distance vision (TV / scoreboard)
📱 Needing your phone further away to read team sheets & stats
😵‍💫 Eye strain or headaches after watching screens
🚗 Glare from headlights when travelling home after an evening match

At Louth Vision Centre, we’ll make sure your prescription is spot on — and recommend lenses that suit how you actually watch and live:
✅ crisp distance clarity
✅ comfortable near vision for phone/tablets
✅ options to reduce glare and visual fatigue

📅 Book your eye test and get “match-ready” vision.
