SKRATCH THE KAT UPDATE
We have reduced the number of containers to just 6, in order to reduce our running costs. These we use for checking, preparing and sorting any items that are kindly gifted to our community project.
We have an excellent opportunity, long term, to move to a nearby yard with our own entrance and a large plot, thanks to the help/support of Gary James Bennett
In the meantime, whilst we are working towards that we are focussed with on-line sales to help raise money, pay the rent, and keep us moving forward.
We hope in a short while to re-open one of our double containers selling a wide range of items.
The team of volunteers are doing a fantastic job in supporting our project; no one gets any reward, financially or otherwise, we are just committed to helping our community.
We receive no grants, awards of exterior funding, etc so are 100% reliant on being supported by the community with gifting of items to sell.
We can now take more or less anything except furnishings and children's toys, due to lack of space. Clothing, shoes, bags, etc are particularly good for us, also books etc.
We are at the main site every Wednesday if you wish to drop anything up to us, otherwise, we can arrange a pickup if that suits you better.
Please support this wonderful project that is for the benefit of our community and ten+ local charitable enterprises.
Skratch the Kat is currently a registered Community Fund. However, we do plan, long term, to become a fully-fledged registered charity.
Thank you so much
Paul, Suzie, Debbie, Geoff, Gav, Adam and the rest of the team.

PREVIOUSLY WITH SKRATCH THE KAT
Skratch the Kat
Originally created five years ago as a self-funded community-driven ‘upcycling / second-hand business that utilised recycled shipping containers as mini ‘shops’ to sell anything and everything to raise money for ten local community charitable organisations.
The finished project took three years to create and was more like a work of art.
Every penny of the cost was donated by two individuals who put the community first. No expenses or income were taken from the business.
It raised hundreds of pounds for the likes of TOPCATS, BRAINWAVE INDEPENDENCE, WARREN SCHOOL TRUST, INVOLVE ACTIVE, ROYAL ANGLIAN REGT (SUFFOLK), ROYAL BRITISH LEGION (SUFFOLK) and many others.
Sadly the project was forced to close last Summer due to rising costs, lack of support funding, and poor personal health.

Fundraising for Mental Health Disability - providing and supporting positive interaction with introductions to ‘hands on’alternative therapies via access to arts, culture, music, media, conservation, the environment with counselling/support in one-on-one/group projects.
This is a lifetime undertaking, by Paul Hammond, to fundraise for Mental Health Disability projects in the community East Norfolk/Suffolk and surrounding areas. Paul is undertaking this lifetime commitment as he has himself been recovering from COMPLEX POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER (C-PTSD) for the last decade and sharing his personal experiences to raise awareness and better understanding
This campaign is endorsed by Time to Change (Suffolk) for whom Paul is a local Champion, Emma Corlett (Labour County Councillor & Norfolk County Council Mental Health Champion), MP Peter Aldous, Community Action Suffolk, the High Sheriff of Suffolk, local action campaigners and many others; Pauls work has already won several awards.
The monies donated to and raised for the BACK TO LIFE Community Fund are held in Trust by Barclays Bank. The target is to raise a minimum of £250,000 to raise awareness, offer support and provide invaluable assistance to those suffering from this much stigmatised illness. In 2019/2020 Back 2 Life made payments of over £2,000 to six community and charitable projects.
The definition of Mental Health Disability is wide reaching, it affects many of the population in varying conditions such as PTSD, Complex PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Dementia, OCD, Schizophrenia.
The Community Fund will support members of the public via all recognised, endorsed and established community projects within the East Suffolk region, also new creative and enterprising initiatives that underpin Mental Health.
Furthermore, BACK2LIFE funded by SKRATCH THE KAT will support the following seven good causes.
SKRATCH THE KAT sells via its on line shop Vinyl Records, CD’s, DVDs, Games, Bric-a-Brac, Clothing, Crafts, Collectables, Books, and much more. We also have regular public clearance ‘yard sales’ to sell surplus stock at low prices.
