A Pilates & Yoga workshop

This workshop is for everybody. We all have a pelvic floor (yes you too gentlemen!) and, as an integral part of the structure we know as our core, these muscles contribute to providing a "girdle of strength” for healthy movement. We also all need, now more than ever I think, to understand the importance of balance at Muladhara chakra. Without this balance we will struggle to feel safe, secure, stable or supported.
The Pilates part of our workshop explores how we can enhance the function of the pelvic floor through Pilates movement – it covers how to contract and relax the pelvic floor muscles correctly, how to use the breath, and how our posture influences the pelvic floor. It will include Pilates moves for strengthening hips, buttocks and abdominal muscles to support the pelvic floor in everyday life, and also introduce the relationship between feet, core and pelvic floor.
The yoga part of our workshop will explore The Root Chakra - Muladhara.
This chakra is located at the base of the spine & pelvic floor. Muladhara governs our physical & emotional stability & our sense of safety & security. Muladhara breaks down into two Sanskrit words 'mula' meaning 'root' & 'dhara' meaning 'support.' Balance at this chakra creates a solid foundation for balancing the chakras above.
There will be a little break offering herbal tea in between sessions.
