👩🏼‍⚕️ I’m not a ‘clicky’ chiropractor. And no, I’m not about to ‘crack you like a glow stick’. 💥

🦴 I do something different. Not only do I treat the whole body from top to toe with the McTimoney technique, (instead of just treating spine and pelvis)..I treat more than just the bones and joints. I address all of your body systems - they have to work together after all! 👨🏽🦶🏽

👂🏻For many people I am the first person that has LISTENED. I am sat in front of you, ready to help in any way that I can. I am dedicated to finding answers, helping you to understand your body and support you going forwards - to be the best version of yourself. 💪🏻

😊Our NHS is overstretched, and so many are not only desperate for relief from pain, but are frustrated, having been passed from pillar to post. It takes someone having the TIME to listen, to assess and to treat you as a whole person. ⏱

🤯 As our NHS struggles to cope with the demand, especially with the current backlogs, private healthcare can help to ease the pressure on our healthcare system. After a thorough assessment, if needed I can refer you to your GP with detailed results of my findings to fast track you to the right team. ✉️

📞 If you have questions - send me a message on 07917 131265. I’m always happy to talk through whether my treatment is the right option for you.

So I’ve been asked to share a few things about me that many people do not know...this is quite difficult for me as a lot of you know parts of my history and hobbies. I like to talk 🤣

💭After giving it some thought, I’ve come up with 5 things that most of you probably don’t know about me.

⬇️ Let me know in the comments below how you scored!

1) I have flown a glider plane ✈️ my dream when I was younger was to be a commercial airline pilot…however I would never have made the cut as my eyesight was awful!

2) which leads me onto the next one…I had laser eye surgery in 2009. No one talks about laser surgery! So if you’re considering it, get in touch and I’ll answer any questions you may have 😊

3) I LOVE puzzles - jigsaw puzzles 🧩 logic puzzles, escape rooms, brain games. Every Christmas I set out a new 1000 piece puzzle as my way of relaxing (and pay the postural price for sitting so long hunched over a table!)

4) Both our children were born at home, delivered by the same midwife, zero pain relief. A truly wonderful experience 👶🏼

5) I am an adrenaline ju**ie - muscle cars, motorbikes, rollercoasters 🎢 we honeymooned in Disney Florida and hired a Camero.

How did you score?

💦 Daily Habits

Why is it SO hard to drink plenty of water??

I encourage my patients to drink between 1.5-2 litres a day. But if I’m being completely honest I find it hard to make that quota because I’m not consistent enough 😩

My trick (when I’m on track) is to pace myself - I have pint glasses around the house (anyone seen the movie Signs??).

1️⃣ By my bedside for when I first wake in the morning

2️⃣ By the kettle for the morning, to sip while I get the kids prepped for school

3️⃣ A bottle to take to clinic

4️⃣ A glass in the living room for the evening

Bonus points if they’re refilled!
Et voilà, 2 litres 💥

I loved that skirt!
But this picture is from a time in my life where I was in PAIN 💥

But no-one believed me.
And the pain didn’t stop. I was told it was growing pains. I was told I’d grow out of it. I was told I was making it up - for attention. Punished and penalised and learnt to live a lie to fit in and be allowed to do the things ‘normal’ kids could do.

In my 20’s I sought more answers. By this point I was in so much pain that I struggled to do my job. My legs would collapse from beneath me. I couldn’t drive. More tests, that all came back negative - nothing wrong with me.

The answer…

Take painkillers. Seriously?

I was having massage, acupuncture, taking pain killers. It all helped…a little. But the pain would come back with a vengeance. It was miserable and I lost my self esteem, stopped exercising, stopped going out. Withdrew.

Until a close friend suggested I see a chiropractor.

That appointment changed my life - she was the first person who knew how to help me. It was a long journey, but FINALLY I was able to get some relief from the pain.

It was only when I decided to change my career and started university to be able to help others in my situation, that I learnt about hypermobility and it’s far reaching effects. But more on that another time!

If you’re in a similar situation to this - reach out to me. Let’s chat. I’ll be offering some free 15 minute 1-2-1 sessions soon so keep an eye on my page 💚

Happy Bank Holiday Monday! 🎉

What are your plans for today?

29/04/2022

A bank holiday weekend is the perfect opportunity for a getaway, whether a day trip or a long weekend. Unfortunately, many others have the same idea, making your car journey long or even delayed. 😱

Here's a few tips to keep in mind when travelling this weekend.

1. Make adjustments. Make sure your seat is adjusted to suit you. The back of the seat should be set slightly backwards, so that it feels natural and your elbows should be at a comfortable and relaxed angle for driving.

2. Steering wheel. Once you have adjusted your seat, your hands should fall naturally on the steering wheel, with just a slight bend in the arms. If the wheel is too high, tension will build up in your shoulders and upper back. If it is too low, the wheel may be touching your legs, which will reduce your ability to turn it freely, putting strain on the wrists and the muscles of the upper back.

3. Take regular breaks – everyone needs to stop and stretch their legs (and arms!) at least every two hours, more often if possible.

4. Relax. A relaxed driving position reduces stress on the spine, allowing your seat to take your weight.
