SOVEREIGN MOON
- A Full Moon in Cancer gathers to begin 2026.
At this Full Moon, the Moon is closest to the Earth at its perigee, a SuperMoon, while the Earth itself is at perihelion, its closest point to the Sun. A rare amplification of lunar and solar forces heightening the emotional and energetic field.
This fullness is shaped by the approaching triple conjunction of Venus and Mars straddling the Sun, a serious and potent fusion heating things up considerably. With the Moon in Cancer, our sensitivities, emotional memories, and insecurities are brought to the surface, as we step into what promises to be one of the most dynamic and consequential years of this decade.
The Moon is also Out of Bounds. If you’ve been following this page, you’ll know what that signifies: a Moon beyond the Sun’s ecliptic reach, operating outside familiar limits. Adding to this theme, Mercury, Venus, and Mars are also Out of Bounds (soon to be reigned back in) for now all free-ranging, uncontained, and ungoverned by the usual rules.
Jupiter is close by, beaming its brightest self down upon us, signalling a time to be your own boss, trust your knowing, your goodness, your intuition, your integrity, your wisdom, your heart, your capacity to rise.
The vicinity of this Moon to our brightest star, Sirius the Dog Star, the faithful companion of Orion the Hunter, reminds us of all that influences us: who we follow, who we are faithful to, who we listen to, and who we revere.
We are launched into this new year, a Year Number 1 with many shackles to loosen, many quests to undertake, and many new directions to initiate. This is a beginning that does not ask for caution, but for courage: to reclaim personal sovereignty, to feel deeply, to act decisively, and to step beyond what has previously defined our limits.
