What do you think about the changes being proposed to Mount Vernon Cancer Centre?

Plans include moving the centre 5 miles to a brand-new facility next to Watford General Hospital and the option for a second radiotherapy unit, located at either Luton and Dunstable University Hospital or Lister Hospital, Stevenage (the second radiotherapy centre would be in addition to radiotherapy at the new main centre.)

Sometimes things don’t go quite to plan… but they turn out even better.

Today we visited a local Chinese community group at Futures House, to offer blood pressure checks and connect with residents. What we didn’t expect was the buzz in the room — with recent government investment into Marsh Farm and even interest from the BBC, there was a real sense of excitement and pride in the community.

Safe to say, a few blood pressure readings were slightly higher than usual… understandably so!

We’ve agreed to come back on a calmer day to repeat the checks, but what stood out most was the warmth, openness, and strong community spirit. A brilliant visit, and we’re looking forward to returning soon.
