What a brilliant meeting we had today! We were joined by the wonderful Ron Sharpe, mindfulness practitioner, who gave us an educational and thoughtful insight into mindfulness based cognitive therapy. We were very lucky to be guided through some mindful meditations and Ron shared some practical tools to help us reduce our reaction to our tinnitus. The scientific research supports this therapy so should encourage everyone to give it a try, not just for tinnitus but for a happier life overall. The meeting was completed with some thought provoking poetry. We can’t thank you enough Ron. And thank you to everyone who attended; a really great second meeting!

We are excited to have a guest speaker at our next meeting. Ron Sharpe is a mindfulness practitioner and he will be joining us to give us a gentle introduction to this meditation technique. With practice, we can learn to reduce overwhelm, and to find new ways of relating to our experiences, thoughts and feelings. As a fellow tinnitus sufferer, he will introduce us to some essential practical skills. Please come along on Tuesday 25th November from 10:30am - 12:30pm. This is a free event but booking your place is essential. Please call 07814822631 or email info@earsense.co.uk

I am a fully qualified audiologist with 25 years clinical experience and now owner of a thriving audiology practice - Ear Sense. My clinic is based at the Wessex Clinic in Lymington. I specialise in ear wax removal, hearing assessments and fitting of digital hearing aids. I also have strong links with GP services and can make referrals to audiology for NHS hearing aids as well as ENT and Auditory Implant programs where necessary. If you have any problems with your ears, hearing or balance, please do get in touch.
Please take a look at my latest blog all about itchy ears, something I am sure we have all had an experience with. Remember...nothing smaller than your elbow in your ears! If you have any questions, please do get in touch: info@earsense.co.uk or 07814822631πŸ‘‚πŸ¦»

When I look in a patients ear, provided it's normal, I am able to view the ear canal, the eardrum and 1 or 2 of the middle ear bones. These bones, the smallest in the human body, sit behind the eardrum in an air filled cavity in the middle ear. Their job is to transfer incoming sound waves to the fluid filled cochlea. Dysfunction of these bones can cause a significant hearing loss. If you ever wanted to know what they look like up close, this is a photo (Credit: National Geographic, 2007) taken with a specialist camera through the Eustachian tube, a tube that connects from your nose to your middle ear space. What a big job for such small bones, amazing!πŸ‘‚
