We recently enjoyed a wonderful afternoon celebrating Colten Care’s win at the 2025 National Care Awards, where we were named Care Home Group (Medium Size) of the Year 🏆

Festivities included a delicious homemade cake, lovingly prepared by our chef, and a relaxed soiree. It was a joyous moment to reflect on the dedication, care, and warmth that our teams bring to every day, and to share in the excitement of this national recognition.

Residents at Linden House designed this year’s Colten Care Christmas cards, featuring a robin carrying forget-me-nots — a heartfelt symbol of dementia.

With Companionship Team Leader Sian’s sketching and Pam, Enid, and Christine’s colouring, their creation came beautifully to life. They were thrilled with the result and proud to be part of this winning design!

Residents from our home and other New Forest homes, alongside some of their relatives, began the festive season in fine voice, performing as part of a 50-strong choir to the delight of visitors at St Thomas, Lymington, as part of the church’s annual Christmas Tree Festival.

Further relatives and members of our team were there to support the day, which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The choir was conducted by our very own Music and Arts Partner, Fiona.

Pam, a resident at Linden House, said:
“It makes you feel so warm and Christmassy, and I do love seeing all the trees.”

Alongside their Christmas favourites, the choir also helped decorate five trees, each donated by one of the participating care homes, in support of the church’s charity, Friends of St Thomas.

For the 4th year in a row, Colten Care residents, family, visitors and staff have generously donated gifts of chocolate to less fortunate children this Christmas, supporting the Chocolate Elf campaign https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheChocolateElf/

Linden House along with the help of all our Hampshire homes and our Support Centre, have this year donated a whopping 232 selections boxes and calendars. With the teams donating more and more each year, it’s wonderful to be able to help.

Steven recently enjoyed a focused listening session to an original Andrés Segovia vinyl that Companion Phil recently found.

Having met Segovia during his time working at St Mary’s Hospital, the music holds real meaning for him. As the Bach recordings played, Steven responded instinctively to the melodies and shared recollections from his past. A simple but powerful moment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this thoughtful and insightful session at Linden House. We’re grateful to our Admiral Nurse, Kay Gibson, for her expert guidance, and to our community for taking part with such openness and care.

Creating understanding around the lived experience of dementia is central to the way we support residents and families, and it’s heartening to see our community engage so meaningfully.
