We gathered to es**rt a much loved husband, dad, grandad and brother on his final journey. The service led by Cathy Perez was filled with touching tributes and heartfelt memories. Each story shared brought forth smiles through tears, reminding us all of the legacy he leaves behind, including his collection of stamps, coins, books, cds and dvds - and not forgetting his greenhouse: veg grew in a row from carrots to cucumbers all in a glow.
His spirit will forever remain intertwined in the hearts of many people.
Linda would like to express her sincere and grateful thanks to all who attended and for all the kind expressions of sympathy, cards of condolence and donations received in Stephen’s memory for The East Cheshire Hospice and The Windyway Trust. Thanks are also extended The Floral Mill for the beautiful floral tributes and the Packhorse Bowling & Social Club for their hospitality.

New crematorium proposal:
Emery Planning, on behalf of Congleton Crematorium Limited, has applied for permission to construct a crematorium on land off the A534 in Brereton.

The plans have received the support of local funeral directors who believe that this is a much-needed facility and will significantly improve the welfare of bereaved families, there is a great need for a modern facility close by.

Crematorium developer Elegy say the plans put forward would provide a 'less hurried, more local' option.

They add that the facility in Macclesfield is 'tired and outdated', holding seven or eight funerals a day which are 'often described as conveyor belt experience'.

Following a public exhibition held back in May, Elegy has been working to improve its proposals, including the addition of a cycle path and new bus stops at the entrance.

The proposed chapel would seat 100 people and hold just four funerals per day.

Elegy say this would enable better spacing between funeral services and a less rushed funeral experience for families.

Furthermore, a sustainability assessment has confirmed that the crematorium's emissions will be net zero from the first year of operation with an estimated added benefit of a saving of 70 Tonnes Co2 each year by road users no longer having to travel to a crematorium further away.

The application was received by Cheshire East Council on Wednesday, October 29.

A public consultation runs until Thursday, December 4.

To view the proposals in full, head to the Cheshire East planning portal and search for the application reference number, 25/4178/FUL.

We gathered to es**rt a beloved husband, dad, grandad, brother and friend to many on his final journey. His wife visited him in our Chapel of Rest and bought his birthday cards - a simple, beautiful act of love.
Barrie was a true gentleman who lived life with zest. He even owned his own plane, and although he had two left feet on the dance floor, he was one of a kind who gave his family the very best. A life well-lived, a man well-loved, he will be remembered year after year.
Lynn and family would like to express their sincere and grateful thanks for the kind message of sympathy, cards of condolence and donations received in memory for The East Cheshire Hospice Bed Appeal. Thanks are also extended to The Floral Mill for the beautiful floral tributes and to Cathy for her unique service.

Last night I was invited by a family to join them at the venue where refreshments were served following their mums funeral. To my surprise, they presented me with the beautiful bouquet below to say thanks for the care and support shown to them.
It was such a thoughtful gesture - we never expect anything from families, as it’s our privilege to care for them during such a difficult time. Clare and Julie your kindness and appreciation means so much, thank you.

In a world that often rushes past grief, we as funeral professionals stand in the stillness. Whether we are in the office making arrangements, in the chapel room caring for a loved one, or meeting a family in the middle of their heartbreak, our role matters deeply. This is not just work. It is a calling rooted in compassion, patience, and a deep respect for life and legacy. We are entrusted with more than tasks - we are trusted with moments that families will remember forever.
We will lead with integrity in everything we do, speak truthfully, act with kindness, and never lose sight of the honor it is to serve. We believe in raising the standard, in mentoring with grace, and in protecting the sacred trust families place in us. Together, we shape the future of this profession - one family, one story, one act of kindness at a time.
