Today is the start of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s important to know the signs and symptoms – especially as risk increases with age. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in Black men.
Prostate cancer often develops slowly, so there may be no symptoms for many years.
Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives. Contact your GP if you notice any changes in your body or something doesn’t feel right.

The NHS is pledging to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040.
If you were invited for cervical screening but missed or did not book an appointment, you can contact your GP surgery or local sexual health clinic to book now.

Children under 6 are now being offered the MMRV vaccine instead of MMR as part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme.
This replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.
You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.
