Today is the start of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month.
It’s important to know the signs and symptoms – especially as risk increases with age. Most cases develop in men aged 50 or older and prostate cancer is more common in Black men.
Prostate cancer often develops slowly, so there may be no symptoms for many years.
Early diagnosis and treatment can save lives. Contact your GP if you notice any changes in your body or something doesn’t feel right.

Children under 6 are now being offered the MMRV vaccine instead of MMR as part of the NHS routine childhood vaccination programme.
This replaces the existing MMR vaccine and adds protection against chickenpox, alongside measles, mumps and rubella.
You don’t need to do anything — your GP will contact you when your child is due.

Are you up to date with your cancer screening?
Cancer screening is for people without symptoms. In the UK, national cancer screening programmes are run by the NHS.
In most cases, eligible people are invited automatically. But you can use our screening checker to see if you’re eligible to take part, and if you want to take part but are worried or have questions, our celebs can help.
Cancer screening aims to spot cancer at an early stage, when treatment is more likely to be successful. Some types of screening can also prevent cancer from developing in the first place.
