💜 A little love for young carers at Congleton High School.

Today we visited CHS and left 20 care packs for young carers, young people who give their time every day to support a family member, often without ever calling themselves a carer.

You might not call yourself a carer, but if you’re giving your time to support someone else, you are one. And you deserve rest, kindness, and permission to pause. 💜

At Ablewell Care, we believe that caring for others starts with caring for the people who care. If you know a young carer who could use some support, please share this post, you never know who might need to see it.

Today we attended the Congleton High School Careers Fair — and what a great day it was! 🙌

We shared a different perspective on working in care through our cards, which highlight:

🛠️ The practical, everyday tasks
💭 The ripple effect and emotional impact of the tasks carers do.
👩‍⚕️ Simple explanations of different job roles

Our aim was to show that a career in care is so much more than people might expect, it’s about compassion, connection, and making a real difference every single day.

Thank you to everyone who came over to chat with us, the future of care is in safe hands 💙

Our final reflection from The Managers Conference 2026 💭

One thing we don’t talk about enough in social care… is how lonely leadership can feel.

When you’re responsible for the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable people, that responsibility doesn’t just switch off at the end of the day. And in a smaller provider like Ablewell Care, that responsibility often sits with just a few people.

That’s why events like this matter so much.

They remind you that you’re not alone — there are so many passionate, dedicated people across the sector facing the same challenges, all doing their very best to provide great care.

If you’re a Care Manager or provider and you’re not part of a support network, it’s really worth finding one. Skills for Care offer great regional groups to get started.

A big thank you to everyone who made The Managers Conference 2026 such an inspiring event 💙

At The Managers Conference 2026, two sessions really stood out — both focused on how AI and technology are shaping the future of social care.

Katie Thorn and Michelle Corrigan from the Digital Care Hub led a fantastic workshop on AI, breaking down how it can be used in simple, practical ways to support care. (They also host a podcast called CTRL+Care — definitely one to check out!)

We also learned about an exciting new role called a Care Technologist. Think of it a bit like an Occupational Therapist, but with a focus on finding the right technology to help people live more independently. Rhiannon Price (Kyndi) and Shawn Clavering (Bolton Cares) shared real-life examples of how this is already making a difference.

The key message from both sessions was clear:
Technology isn’t here to replace carers — it’s here to support them and enhance the amazing work they do every day.

At Ablewell, that’s exactly how we see it too 💙

We’re proud to share that Rachael, our Manager at Ablewell Care, recently attended The Managers Conference 2026 🎤
While there, she heard from Chris Badger, Chief Inspector of Adult Social Care at the CQC — and brought back some important updates:

✔️ The CQC wants to work with care providers more, focusing on improvement, not just rules
✔️ They are making it clearer what “Good” care looks like
✔️ More inspections are coming, with a new “Return to Good” approach from April/May 2026
✔️ Future inspections will focus more on what they see (real care in action) rather than paperwork

The overall message? The CQC wants to recognise and support good care — and that’s exactly what we strive for every day at Ablewell 💙

🧩 Moments that matter 🧩

In today’s video, our Ablewell team are spending time with a client completing a jigsaw puzzle — a simple activity with powerful benefits.
For people living with dementia, jigsaw puzzles offer valuable mental stimulation, helping to support memory, cognitive function, and mood. They encourage problem-solving, engage visual skills, and can even help reduce anxiety.
But beyond the clinical benefits, it’s the shared experience that truly counts 💛
Working on a puzzle together creates space for conversation, connection, and those all-important moments of joy and achievement.
At Ablewell, we believe care is about more than support — it’s about meaningful engagement, companionship, and helping every person feel valued.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day 🌸

Today we celebrate the mums who guide us, comfort us, and fill our lives with love — from the incredible mothers in our team to the wonderful mums and grandmothers we support every day.

A Mother’s Day Poem

For every hug that calms our fears,
For every smile through all the years,
For every hand that helped us grow,
For every love we’ll always know.

A mother’s care, both strong and true,
In every little thing they do.
Today we pause to simply say,
Thank you, Mum — Happy Mother’s Day. 💛

To all the amazing mums in our Ablewell family — today we celebrate you.

💛 Feedback Friday

When client S’s eyesight suddenly deteriorated due to an infection, she was no longer able to read her daily schedule — something that helps her feel organised and reassured each day.

Without hesitation, our Macclesfield carer Philip took the time at home to reproduce S’s schedule in large print, so she could continue reading and following her daily plans independently.

This thoughtful act meant S could maintain her routine and confidence during a difficult time.

It’s a wonderful example of going above and beyond to support the people we care for — and we’re incredibly proud of Philip for showing such kindness and dedication. ⭐

Rachael is attending The Managers Conference this week — an opportunity to learn, connect and bring new ideas back to Ablewell Care.

With speakers from organisations including Skills for Care, CQC, The King’s Fund and the National Care Forum, it’s a valuable chance to stay up to date with the latest thinking in the care sector.

Regular training and development help our staff stay confident, skilled and informed — ensuring we continue to provide safe, high-quality care. That means better support for our clients and a team that feels prepared, supported and able to grow in their roles.

We’ll share more from the conference soon. 💛
