Minding Me Psychologists

Minding Me Psychologists I am a Psychologist and Coach with 20 years experience working with clients to help them to overcome challenges and achieve their goals.

I am a Psychologist and Coach with a wealth of experience working with clients from all walks of life. I understand the psychology of coaching and am proficient in the use of a range of advanced coaching techniques and models and their application to life, health, business, and performance coaching.

All of my work is centred around helping people to change aspects of their lives that they are not satisfied with. As a trained Psychologist, I can help you to make sense of the difficulties you are facing and explore your responses to such situations. I do this in a supportive way, with a little bit of challenge when appropriate. I use psychological theory in a practical, down to earth way. I firmly believe that we have the answers to our own problems within ourselves; however we can’t always see these clearly. When coaching, I work with you to facilitate the process of you finding these answers. Along the way I may also teach you some useful techniques, or invite you to use certain tools if I think they will benefit you’.

I have helped people with a number of different issues, including overcoming anxiety and panic attacks, developing self-confidence; overcoming stress, managing long term health conditions, deciding on a next career move; preparing for promotion; going back to work after a period of time off; dealing with redundancy; managing difficult relationships; preparing for exams, interviews and presentations; overcoming procrastination and time management issues.

I tailor my coaching approach to the individual needs of all of my clients. The general structure is to work with clients to:

Increase their self-awareness and clarify their goals. Identify and understand any self-limiting beliefs and behaviours. Challenge these limiting thoughts and behaviours by practicing more helpful strategies. Review progress and action plan for sustained change

I’ve had the privilege of working with some very special children over the years.

One thing they remind me of every day is that children aren’t born knowing how to manage big feelings, they learn.

When we teach children simple strategies to cope with worry, sadness, anger, and overwhelm, we give them tools they can carry for life.

-How to name their feelings
-How to calm their bodies
-How to talk about what’s going on inside
-How to ask for help

These aren’t just skills for childhood.
They become lifelong foundations for resilience, confidence, and emotional wellbeing.

Supporting children’s mental health today helps create stronger, healthier adults tomorrow.

As a full-time wheelchair user, I’ve found myself getting more anxious about my heart health.

When opportunities to exercise shrink, my mind is very good at filling the space with what ifs.
The health anxiety is real.

So sitting here catching my breath after a very short walk, tripping with nearly every step, is me doing what I can.

Each attempt reminds my brain and body how to keep working together. That’s neuroplasticity in action.

I still feel anxious sometimes.
But instead of fighting it, I notice it, acknowledge it, and accept it.
I ask myself every day, What can I do today?

Because when things are really hard, it’s very easy to not do them.

I’ve promised myself that every day I’ll do what I can.
But many days I have to accept it’s better to sit down before gravity makes the decision for me… as it has many times before.

Acceptance isn’t giving up.
It’s working with your body instead of against it.

And slowly, I’m learning that any progress is meaningful.

It was fantastic to see George Pig wearing a hearing aid on Peppa Pig.

I remember attending a disability awareness class years ago and learning that hearing loss is one of the most common disabilities in the world. Yet it’s still something we don’t always see or talk about openly.

That’s why representation like this matters.

Globally, around 1 in 6 people live with a disability. When children grow up seeing hearing aids, wheelchairs, or other differences as normal, it builds awareness. And awareness is where acceptance begins.

As someone who lives with a disability that was hidden for a long time, moments like this really matter to me. Representation and awareness can make such a difference to how we see ourselves, and how others see us too.

We met 18 years ago working together in a consultancy in Manchester.

Life has moved on, careers have evolved, we got married, we’ve had kids, and we don’t see each other often… but the friendship has stayed.

Cathy’s infectious laugh brings me right back to those early days every single time 😊

Friendships like this remind me how important real connection is for our wellbeing. The people who know your story, share your history, and can still make you laugh years later are special.

From a coaching and psychological perspective, supportive relationships are a real protective factor for mental health. They build resilience, perspective and a sense of belonging.

Life gets busy, but friendships need nurturing too.
The ones that last are the ones we choose to invest in

Once again, I had the privilege of working with some fantastic children today at Glen PS. Children’s mental health matters so much, and I feel grateful to support pupils, working with them individually to build confidence, understand emotions, and develop healthy ways to cope with anxiety ❤️

A new year doesn’t promise an easy road, but it does offer the chance to begin again. Resilience isn’t about never falling, it’s about continuing, even when we’re tired, discouraged or unsure.

This Christmas was a reminder of that for me. A bad chest infection meant cancelled plans, missed get-togethers with friends, and not yet getting to meet my beautiful 9-day-old baby nephew. It wasn’t how I imagined the holidays, but after a second antibiotic and steroids, I’m finally starting to feel a bit better.

This year also held heartbreak, including the loss of a dear friend. A reminder of how fragile and precious life is, and how important it is to be gentle with ourselves.

This year, I’m holding on to noticing the good when it comes, and meeting the harder days with steadiness and care. Life will knock us down sometimes. What matters is that we keep going, knowing we can endure and recover, supported by connection and hope.

Happy New Year.
Be kind to yourself — especially on the hard days.

I’ve had the privilege of working with some very special people this year. While Christmas brings happiness and excitement for many, I know it isn’t an easy time for everyone. This season can hold joy alongside grief, longing, and memories of those who are no longer with us.

I’m thinking especially of anyone who has lost someone they love. I hope you can find moments of comfort. This Christmas, I’m thinking of those we’ve lost, and carrying their memory with me in the love and joy we share.

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas ❤️

Confidence can be eroded by criticism, especially when it comes from someone we trust.

It’s been a real privilege to see their confidence grow again and to see them return to doing what they love.

When people feel heard, believed, and supported, real change can happen. A client’s reflection on their coaching experience, shared with permission.

“I came to Sarah nervous, shaken, and unsure if I could even talk about what had happened. She immediately put me at ease. She listened without judgement, created a genuinely safe, comforting space, and encouraged me to go deeper when I needed to.

Sarah provided a non-judgemental, psychologically safe space to process a deeply distressing experience. Through listening and thoughtful questioning, Sarah helped reduce the emotional intensity I was carrying. Over time, the distress in my voice faded to almost nothing. There was no pressure, no rush, no imposed timeline, the process ended naturally when coaching was no longer needed. I will forever be grateful for the professionalism, compassion, and support I received. Thank you Sarah.
