PFPS, (patella femoral pain syndrome) often called “runner’s knee,” is one of the most common sources of knee pain—especially during the summer running boom! It’s frequently seen in runners due to factors like weak hip abductors, tight IT bands, and poor movement mechanics. Women are at slightly higher risk due to a naturally wider pelvis and greater Q angle, which can put extra stress on the kneecap. If you’re noticing pain around or behind your kneecap—especially when running, climbing stairs, or squatting—it might be PFPS. The good news? Manual therapy, targeted rehab, and simple movement tweaks can help get you back to pain-free running. Don’t ignore your knee pain—get it checked out and keep moving strong this summer!
