We need to make the roads safer x

Are you aware of the Highway code changes. When you see a horse on a road, you should slow down to a maximum of 10 mph. Be patient, do not sound your horn or rev your engine. When safe to do so, pass slow and wide, allowing at least 2 metres of space.

A great illustration of how a horse is knocked off balance by using the inside rein to turn/bend. The right is correct, as the horse is turning with both shoulders, the left horse has been knocked over his outside shoulder, and will fight for his balance beneath the rider by allowing his haunches to fall in.

Little dogs need massages as well! This little fella is constantly jumping on/off the sofa and everything is just too big for him! Gentle massaging helps ease tension of over-worked back legs, glutes and abdominals to keep him in good shape.

Some good advice

We often hear of people who have stopped their dogs medication because they feel like it is no longer working.
But more often than not, this isn't true.... and by stopping the medication they have actually made things worse 🙁

Arthritis is a condition that waxes and wanes- they can have good days and bad days, or even good weeks and bad weeks - so the medicaton "not working" could be due to a pain flare up in a bad week or due to an injury causing pain.

Plus arthritis is progressive - despite our best efforts it will eventually get worse over time and require changes in treatment accordingly - this may be additional therapies, new drugs, higher medication doses or more frequent medication - but what it is unlikely to need, is medications to be stopped, especially without your vets reccomendation!

If you think your dogs treatment isn't working, speak with your vet before changing anything! 👍

This diagram shows the development of a horse over a 6 year period. It shows why in the early years riders need to be mindful of how far a horse is pushed and to be considerate of its age especially when not fully developed
