Reminder: upcoming workshop on Friday 27th February in Maidstone.

Kent County Council (KCC) are making plans to recommission a new Sensory contract to support adults with Sensory impairments in the community, alongside other Wellbeing contracts which support older people or those with physical disabilities or dementia. KCC are holding workshops, to invite those with lived experience to share their views on shaping the future service.

KCC have booked the following dates:

- 27th February – 2.30 – 4 pm – Swale Rooms, Sessions House, Maidstone. ME14 1XQ

- 2nd March – 10 – 11.30 am – Brave Room, Dover District Council, White Cliffs Business Park, Whitfield, Dover. CT16 3PJ

- 4th March – 10 – 11.30 am – Westbrook ICC, 150 Canterbury Road, Westbrook, Margate. CT9 5DD

- 12 March - 2.30 – 4 pm – Orchards Centre, Swale Multi-Agency Specialist Hub (MASH), Attlee Way, Milton Regis, Sittingbourne. ME10 2HE.

Join the Keratoconus Group's AGM and Speaker Meeting at the Moorfields Educational Hub, 15 Ebeneezer Street, N1 7NP (close to the main Hospital) on Saturday 28th March at 11:00am.

Their guest speaker will be Dr Waheeda Illahi, Head of Optometry at the Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre (BMEC) giving a talk entitled: 'Keratoconus and other health conditions: any cause for concern?'

This is based on a highly important survey carried out by the BMEC optometry team with 500 keratoconus patients, the results of which should lead to significant improvements in KC hospital care.

This is a great opportunity to meet other members of the Keratoconus community.

Step out for sight loss and join KAB’s sponsored walks!

This summer bring your friends and family together for a meaningful adventure on a KAB sensory walk. With three lovely locations across Kent, step into the smell, sound, touch and taste of nature, all whilst raising essential funds to support people living with sight loss.

- Tickets start from just £4.00.
- Distance: 4-5km
- We ask that each participant raises a minimum of £25.00 to help support people living with sight loss in Kent.

Our next Glaucoma support group is on Friday 27th March at 2pm at Maidstone Hospital Eye Clinic.

Come and find out more about glaucoma, using eye drops or how to cope. Family members and carers are also very welcome.

- Mike, advanced orthoptist in Glaucoma will do a talk about the disease.

- Conchita from Glaucoma UK will answer any of your questions about drops

- Fran from Kent Association for the Blind can discuss the support available if you are struggling with vision problems.

There will be a Q&A session afterwards so we can talk through any issues you might be having.
