Statins are a very common medication used to lower cholesterol levels. Like many medicines, they can come with side effects — the most well-known being muscle pain.

There’s also a link between statin use and reduced levels of an important antioxidant called Co-Enzyme Q10 (CoQ10). Low levels of CoQ10 can lead to symptoms such as fatigue, muscle weakness, poor concentration, exercise intolerance, and, in more serious cases, heart issues or hearing loss.
