Domestic abuse isn’t always visible. It’s not just bruises and black eyes, sometimes, it’s silence, fear, and loss of self.

When we think of domestic abuse, many imagine physical violence. But for so many, the scars are emotional, mental, or financial, and they’re often hidden.

If you’ve noticed a loved one becoming unusually quiet, withdrawn, anxious, or losing confidence… please check in with them. Sometimes a gentle “Are you okay?” can open a door they’ve been too scared to knock on.

And if you’re reading this and recognising these signs in yourself, please know this: you’re not alone and it’s not your fault.

Abuse comes in many forms, control, manipulation, isolation, constant criticism, and you deserve to feel safe, respected, and heard.

I offer a confidential, compassionate space to talk things through. No judgment, no pressure, just a safe place to start finding your way forward.

If any of this resonates, reach out. Book a free, no-obligation chat or send me a message; sometimes the first step is simply saying, “I need to talk.” You never have to face it alone. 💜

What if staying comfortable is the very thing holding you back? 💭

It’s easy to stay where things feel familiar, even if they’re not truly making you happy.
But real growth happens when you take that brave step beyond your comfort zone.
Don’t get stuck just because it’s easy or safe.

Imagine what’s waiting for you when you finally choose you, new experiences, freedom, confidence, and the life you’ve been quietly wishing for.

Sometimes, the first step feels scary… but it’s also where change begins.

If fear or self-doubt is keeping you stuck, let’s work through it together.

It’s Bonfire Night! 🎇 But while many love the sparkle and noise, for some… fireworks spark real fear 💥😨

While we’re lighting up the skies, let’s talk about something a little different; fears and phobias.

Did you know there are hundreds of recognised phobias, some of them quite unusual? Here are 5 bizarre phobias you might not have heard of:

1️⃣ Anatidaephobia – the fear that somewhere, somehow, a duck is watching you 🦆
2️⃣ Ablutophobia – fear of bathing (yes, really!) 🛁
3️⃣ Nomophobia – fear of being without your mobile phone 📱
4️⃣ Cacophobia – fear of ugliness 😬
5️⃣ Phonophobia – fear of loud noises or fireworks 🎆

While some may sound quirky, phobias are very real, and they can impact daily life more than people realise. The good news? With the right support, they can be managed and overcome.

Do you or someone you know struggle with fears or phobias? Let me know in the comments 👇👇if you have a fear or phobia.

“I just want to feel normal…”, but what does normal really mean?

“I just want to feel normal”, it’s something I hear so often. But the truth is, normal looks different for everyone.

My version of normal might not look like yours, and that’s perfectly okay.
Therapy isn’t about fitting into someone else’s definition of normal, it’s about helping you feel comfortable, calm, and content in your own skin.

It’s about finding your balance, your peace, and your version of what feels right.
Because you deserve to live life on your own terms, not someone else’s idea of how it should look.

💬 What does feeling normal mean to you?

If you’d like support in finding your version of calm and clarity, send me a message or book a free chat today; let’s start where you are.

Seasonal Affective Disorder is a type of depression that has a seasonal pattern. The episodes of depression tend to occur at the same time each year, usually during the winter. As with other types of depression, two of the main symptoms of SAD are a low mood and a lack of interest in life.

If you can relate this comment below or if you would like some help managing your SAD get in touch; I would love to help you manage your symptoms.

If you have ever felt down or irritable before starting your period, you will know that hormones can affect your mood and wellbeing.

Estrogen helps regulate several hormones which have mood-boosting properties for example serotonin, norepinephrine and dopamine. It also helps the sharpness of your thinking skills and when levels reduce, the resulting ‘brain fog’ can lower your mood.

Progesterone has a calming effect on your mood, as well as aiding sleep and relaxation. And like estrogen, when progesterone levels drop, it can cause a rise in irritability and mood swings.

Testosterone is thought to have important effects on your mental stamina, quality of sleep, clarity of thought and concentration, and mood stability.

When estrogen, progesterone and testosterone fluctuate and fall during perimenopause, the effects on your mental health and wellbeing can be significant and impact on your daily life and those around you.

Although changes to your mood and emotional wellbeing can be very unsettling at times, there are plenty of ways to minimise these symptoms and treatments, helping you feel more like your usual self again.

If you would like help with your mood and emotions now that you are on you menopause journey; get in touch for a free initial chat.

Domestic violence doesn’t always leave visible scars. Let’s raise awareness for those who silently suffer.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Mental and emotional abuse can be just as damaging as physical violence, and yet it often goes unnoticed. It’s crucial to raise awareness, provide support, and help break the cycle of abuse.

If you or someone you know needs help, don’t hesitate to reach out to local resources. You are not alone; DM me if you need support.

Let's talk about something I'm seeing more of in clinic: addiction.

And it's not always what you might think. It's not just alcohol or drugs, gambling, medication misuse, and behavioural addictions are increasingly common too.

Here are some UK stats that might surprise you:

📊 11% of UK adults have experienced addiction at some point
📊 47% of adults know someone affected by addiction
📊 Only a fraction of the 608,416 alcohol-dependent adults in England get specialist support
📊 2.8% of adults engage in problem gambling, with online platforms fuelling the risk
📊 1 in 6 people have a family member living with addiction

The truth is, addiction often walks hand-in-hand with anxiety, depression, trauma, or loneliness. And whatever form it takes, it deserves compassion, not shame.
If this resonates with you or someone you love, know that support is available. You're not alone in this. 💜

👉🏻 Domestic abuse doesn’t always leave bruises, sometimes it hides in silence, fear, or control.

This October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month, a time to shine a light on an issue that affects over 2.3 million people every year in the UK.

Too often, abuse happens behind closed doors or is dismissed as a “private matter.”
But everyone deserves to feel safe, in their home, in their relationship, and in their own mind.

Change is happening. With greater awareness and new laws like the Domestic Abuse Act 2021, support for victims, children, and even pets is growing.

Still, stigma and silence remain powerful barriers, and that’s why awareness matters more than ever. 💜

If you or someone you know is struggling, please know that help is available, you are not alone, and you do deserve safety and peace.

💜 If you need a safe space to talk, please reach out, there’s support waiting for you.
