Prospect House Care Home - Malpas

Prospect House Care Home - Malpas Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing and extend that excellence to all we do. And we know that it’s frequently a stressful process.

For nearly 30 years, we have provided a home for up to 56 people, but we have recently increased this to 60. Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing care and to extend that excellence to all we do. From the style and maintenance of the building and the standard of our housekeeping, to our activities and occupational therapy sessions; from the respectful manner shown by our staff, to the ability of every resident to choose what to do every day. Importantly, we aim for excellence in the openness of communication between everyone involved in the care of people at Prospect House – residents, relatives, friends, doctors, nurses, social workers, carers and external agencies such as the Care Quality Commission, who regulate our work. But the more difficult task – that of finding the best care home – is usually in the hands of the relatives of the potential resident. Reading lots of information on a web site is unlikely to relieve the stress, or to guarantee that the right home gets chosen. For more detailed information, please ask for our Guide which can be posted or emailed to you. Best of all though, we’d like to invite you to visit us. You will be very welcome.

☺️🌿🌼 We enjoyed another fun packed trip Bellis Brothers!

We laughed and chatted our way around, looking at just about everything!

A member of the public kindly spoke to us to acknowledge the approach we took during our trip; in the moment explanations, constant reassurance, and patiently and compassionately allowing our residents the time they require to process each step of the trip out, are key to our residents thoroughly enjoying excursions, and continuing to comfortably participate in the vibrancy of society! 🩷💚💛🩵💜

Huge thanks go to our student nurse, Zara! Zara took absolutely everything in her stride, Zara’s confidence, and the way in which she immediately, easily connected with our residents, helped to make our trip out a wonderful success! 🌼🌿☺️

🌿🌼🌸 Yesterday afternoon we all enjoyed 'Spring Flowers' art club!

Residents supported one another to be creative in their own way, and within this inclusive, relaxed environment residents came up with some incredible interpretations of Spring Flowers!

Huge thanks go to our wonderful student nurse Paige; Paige cleverly and constructively encouraged our residents, helping them to reach their full potential! 🌸🌼🌿

☺️✨February has been Dignity in Care month.

Dignity in Care means valuing every person as an individual, respecting other’s views, choices and decisions, not making assumptions about how people want to be treated, and always working with care and compassion.

Today we celebrated companionship and inclusivity with our fun and challenging, but fully accessible BIG QUIZ afternoon!

We were incredibly privileged to have The Lord Mayor of Chester join us!

We tested the old brain cells, trying to answer questions correctly in our General Knowledge, Music, Sport and St. David’s Day rounds.

The Mayor joined residents for the duration of the quiz, but not before taking the time to speak with each of our residents individually, engaging in conversation which was meaningful, considered, and compassionate.

Huge thanks go to the Lord Mayor, our senior nurse Claire for helping us with our St. David’s Day round (especially the pronunciations 😅), and of course, to our amazing residents who all made the afternoon so much fun, packed with good humour and so many laughs!

🐾🥰 Isla visited us again this morning!

Today we learned about Isla's care routine, including that one effective way to groom Isla, is using a flip-flop, which gathers most fur! Who flipping knew!

Residents retain joyous, comforting feelings following Isla's visits such that they were still talking about her at this afternoon's bookclub.

Huge thanks go again to Isla, our PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog, and to the fabulous Lisa 🥰🐾

☺️✨🌼🌿 Residents enjoyed a packed trip to Bellis Brothers; we visited the indoor plants, the outdoor plants, the wonderful old Willow Tree, we looked at all the gifts and enjoyed a very well-earned cup of tea and coffee at the cafe!

Huge thanks go to amazing student nurse, Fiona, who was the consummate care professional, helping and supporting at every turn.

A wonderful day; we are all now ready for a nap! 😴

🍕😋✨ Mamma Mia, we made our own Pizza’s!

Resident capabilities and confidence building was promoted today, as we very successfully made our own Pizza's!

Resident's had lots of fun, and helped each other, as we added our preferred ingredients… and just look at the results!

The pizza's will be shared amongst all residents during this evening’s supper service; what a wonderful, and creative way to spend an afternoon ☺️✨

❤️☺️✨Dignity is at the heart of all residential, nursing, and specialist dementia care which we are incredibly proud and privileged every day to provide at Prospect House.

As part of our Dignity in Care month celebrations, the children of Malpas Alport Primary School visited our residents this afternoon armed with a host of brilliant questions, which the children themselves had created, to discover and learn more about our residents' personal histories!

Thank you to the brilliant children of Malpas Alport School, for helping to provide this joyful, meaningful intergenerational interaction which is so valuable in acknowledging our residents’ individuality and helping them to maintain their self-respect and sense of self-worth.

Ps the children also visited our Butterfly suite, but we were engrossed in our conversations, that we forgot to take pics!

💕❤️🥰🥂 Peter and Sarah played for us at our, ‘We are each other’s Valentine’ party!

Peter and Sarah brought their brilliant talent to Prospect House for all residents to enjoy once again today.

Peter and Sarah, our Night nurse, and carer, volunteer their services for all residents, relatives, and staff to enjoy.

At Prospect House we are a family, we are a community, thanks to all who attended, supported, and enjoyed today's party, thanks especially to Peter and Sarah, and happy rest of Valentines, one and all! 🥂🥰❤️💕
