Prospect House Care Home - Malpas Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing and extend that excellence to all we do. And we know that it’s frequently a stressful process.

For nearly 30 years, we have provided a home for up to 56 people, but we have recently increased this to 60. Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing care and to extend that excellence to all we do. From the style and maintenance of the building and the standard of our housekeeping, to our activities and occupational therapy sessions; from the respectful manner shown by our staff, to the ability of every resident to choose what to do every day. Importantly, we aim for excellence in the openness of communication between everyone involved in the care of people at Prospect House – residents, relatives, friends, doctors, nurses, social workers, carers and external agencies such as the Care Quality Commission, who regulate our work. But the more difficult task – that of finding the best care home – is usually in the hands of the relatives of the potential resident. Reading lots of information on a web site is unlikely to relieve the stress, or to guarantee that the right home gets chosen. 🐣 There were Easter Eggs for everyone!

And we all enjoyed Tony Donovan performing ‘A Rock’n’Roll Easter’.

Residents recounted many wonderful memories evoked by being reminded of songs from their youth 🎶

And the Lord Mayor joined us for the final time during her term!

What a busy week we had at Prospect House!

🐣 We are looking very Easter-y!

🐾 We welcomed Finn and Syve back to Prospect House. Finn and Syve's calm energy and warm, beautifully soft coats always cheer residents. Ruth and Tim, Finn and Syve's helpful and knowledgeable owners always take time to chat to the residents, meaning that residents are always engaged and greatly enjoy the PAT dog's visits.

🥰 Thank you to the wonderful, talented children of Malpas Alport Primary School choir who sang some egg-cellent 😅 Easter songs for us, everyone's mood was lifted.

😆 We had so much fun decorating hard-boiled eggs for Easter!

🎶 We are looking forward to welcoming Tony Donovan back to Prospect House for our Easter party tomorrow afternoon!

This week at Prospect House!

🎈We practiced coordination, upper body mobility and mental agility with the blue balloon!

🛡️ We enjoyed the history and fascinating artefacts at The Grosvenor Museum in Chester!

⛪ We soaked up the incredible organ recital and splendor of Chester Cathedral.

🥰 And we sadly said goodbye to our amazing student nurses Zara, and Paige, they will be missed and we are very grateful for all the kind and intelligent care they shared with our residents!

🥰🐾 Our PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog Isla visited us again yesterday morning. Resident's mood is always lifted when Isla comes to Prospect House, she is such a bundle of joy. Thank you Isla and thanks as ever to Lisa 🐾🥰

🥰🦸 And last evening, the 1st Malpas Squirrels came to tell us all about what they had been doing in the community, to achieve their 'Local Superhero' badge.

The children also asked residents to talk about when they had been heroes, we listened to some very interesting resident stories!

Residents take so much away from these incredible intergenerational interactions, we are always so grateful to the children, and to their volunteer leaders, who are very definitely superheroes! 🦸🥰

Does anyone have any spare hosta plants❓

Now is the time gardeners will divide hostas, at Prospect House we have quite a few shady areas that would greatly benefit from some fabulous hostas in pots to enrich the outside areas for our residents.

If anyone can spare any cuttings, we would be extremely grateful ☺️

✨☺️ Yesterday, residents enjoyed a trip to Chester Town Hall, at the special invitation of The Lord Mayor of Chester!

During her last visit to Prospect House, The Lord Mayor, Councillor Sherin Akhtar, invited residents to join her at her offices at Chester Town Hall for a special tour of the Hall, and a talk about the Mayoral Regalia!

During her term, The Lord Mayor has taken time on several occasions to visit Prospect House, always meaningfully engaging with our residents, as well as acknowledging resident's personal histories, and individuality. Residents were absolutely delighted, therefore, to accept the invitation.

The Lord Mayor said; 'Hosting Prospect House residents for this special tour of the Town Hall felt like a natural extension of the wonderful relationship which has developed between myself and the residents. This visit celebrated heritage, history and the here and now, but also captured the true spirit of community and inclusion of all civic life'.

Thank you to our brilliant student nurse Paige for accompanying us, and huge thanks to The Lord Mayor of Chester, and her lovely team, for this very special experience ☺️✨

We celebrated a very special resident's birthday today 🥰✨💛

Not everyone has been blessed to be a mum, but when we are gentle, and kind, and selflessly compassionate, as our birthday girl eternally is, we will always be surrounded by love 💛✨🥰

☺️✨ What a busy week we had!

⛪ We enjoyed cakes and hot drinks on a rainy day against the backdrop of the amazing Café 1092, set in the thirteenth century monks’ dining hall at Chester Cathedral and including a seventeenth-century tapestry, and the beautiful Creation Window depicting the six days of creation!

😅 We did our exercises to promote circulation and motivation!

🎨 Nicola from ‘Creative Minds’ art visited us; Nicola agreed we have some incredibly talented and creative artists amongst us, and Nicola provided our less confident artists with some good creative tips.

🌸🌼🌿🥰 And Prospect House morphed into a floral wonderland for Mothering Sunday; thank you so much to all the amazing relatives who visited their loved ones today, and to those who sent heartfelt notes, cards, letters, flowers and chocolates from afar, we are grateful for you all; our residents enjoyed a day filled with good cheer, positivity, and great happiness! 🥰

🌼🌿☺️ We are buying shares in Bellis Brothers! 😆

We took another trip to our favourite garden centre; it was a little too breezy to look at the old Willow today, nonetheless, residents enjoyed a fun packed perusal of all the indoor plants and gifts, before enjoying hot chocolate and cake, none of which was left unconsumed! 😋

Huge thanks again to our wonderful student nurse Paige for all the help, and excellent encouragement of, and engagement with our residents ☺️ 🌿🌼

❤️🐾 Residents’ hearts and hands were warmed this morning, when Isla visited us again!

Today we learned that Isla loves a cup of tea, no sugar! Of course, Isla is sweet enough 🥰

Isla's incredibly gentle and giving temperament never fails to elevate our Monday mornings, thank you so much Lisa and Isla 🐾

🌼☺️🌸 And this afternoon, we enjoyed a wonderfully inclusive and relaxing flower club on our Butterfly Suite.

Everyone got involved, the pretty blooms brightened all of our day 🌸☺️🌼
