Prospect House Care Home - Malpas

Prospect House Care Home - Malpas Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing and extend that excellence to all we do. And we know that it’s frequently a stressful process.

For nearly 30 years, we have provided a home for up to 56 people, but we have recently increased this to 60. Our aim is to achieve excellence in our nursing care and to extend that excellence to all we do. From the style and maintenance of the building and the standard of our housekeeping, to our activities and occupational therapy sessions; from the respectful manner shown by our staff, to the ability of every resident to choose what to do every day. Importantly, we aim for excellence in the openness of communication between everyone involved in the care of people at Prospect House – residents, relatives, friends, doctors, nurses, social workers, carers and external agencies such as the Care Quality Commission, who regulate our work. But the more difficult task – that of finding the best care home – is usually in the hands of the relatives of the potential resident. Reading lots of information on a web site is unlikely to relieve the stress, or to guarantee that the right home gets chosen. For more detailed information, please ask for our Guide which can be posted or emailed to you. Best of all though, we’d like to invite you to visit us. You will be very welcome.

🎶😀 Today residents enjoyed a wonderful visit from Kiddleydivey! We sang and danced the morning away during a Valentine's themed music and movement session, residents joyfully joined in with all of Eve's energy filled songs 😀🎶

💞☺️🥂 And this afternoon, residents patiently created decorations for our, 'We are each other’s Valentine’ party tomorrow! 💞☺️🥂

☺️✨🛡️ Yesterday, residents enjoyed a trip to The Grosvenor Museum in Chester!

We were accompanied by our student nurse, Martin, who was a brilliant help!

We watched a short film informing us about the incredible history of Chester, between us we built an arch, and we looked in detail at loads of interesting artefacts!

We met young people, who excitedly talked to to our residents about their great interest in history 👍

Residents commented that the trip had been so interesting, a lovely mood booster and a marvellous way to spend an afternoon! ☺️✨🛡️

🎄☺️ Just before Christmas, residents made Christmas cards and wrote them to loved ones.

I thought that I might have misheard, when one of our residents said that she would like to write her card to The Salvation Army. On further investigation, our resident shared that she would like to thank The Salvation Army for everything they do, and thought this would be a lovely way of going about that 🥰

Handing the card over recently, was both very joyful and very emotional, as the young team at the Shrewsbury Donation Centre were so grateful that our resident continues to recognise and appreciate the special and important work undertaken by this incredible organisation.

Back at work, we were then able to share the pictures of the 'big card handover' with our beloved resident, bringing yet more joy; our resident was delighted 🥰

📖😊 And this afternoon, we had another very busy book club with residents absolutely captivated by the next chapter of 'A Knock at the Door', by Rob Parsons, which we can all highly recommend!

🧩💯 It’s National Puzzle Day!

Residents enjoyed participating in various puzzles, games and challenges including Jigsaws (some of the more difficult Jigsaws are to be continued!), word searches, Tetris, Famous Faces, and 'Tell Me'.

😅 The highlight of the afternoon was trying to catch our residents out with the cup game. No matter the speed (which towards the end was breakneck!), or the complexity of the movement of the cups, our residents got the right cup, every, single, time!

What a great lot of fun and laughter we had! ☺️✨👌

🐾🥰 Yesterday morning, our new PAT (Pets as Therapy) dog, Isla, visited again. Isla cheers residents with her infectious energy and wonderfully mischievous manner. All residents have thoroughly fallen head over heels with Isla, she has quickly established herself as part of the Prospect House family! Thank you so much to owner Lisa, and of course to Isla! 🥰🐾

🤓🥃🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 And in the afternoon, residents enjoyed shortbread, fudge a wee dram if they fancied it, before taking on our fun and inclusive Scottish themed quiz, to pay homage to the great Robert Burns 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🥃🤓

🐶✨☺️ Finn and Syve, our incredible Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs, visited us for the first time this year!

Finn and Syve bring such a sense of calm and peacefulness to our residents. They are clever dogs who pick up signals and always linger around residents, until their mood is completely lifted.

Today, one of our resident's commented, 'Knowing that Finn and Syve are visiting gives me every reason to want to get up in the morning.' ☺️✨

Thank you to our wonderful volunteers, Ruth and Tim, for your kind and generous contribution to the Prospect House community 🐶✨☺️

✨☺️ We had another wonderfully busy week here at PH!

🌸🌼 Residents created some beautiful arrangements from this week's bright and colourful stems. The importance of gathering together in this intimate and fully inclusive environment cannot be overstated. This week, a conversation emerged between residents during which they raised concerns regarding the current worrying global political landscape. Collectively, we had a long, fascinating and comforting discussion, after which residents felt so much better in the knowledge that they can bring these sorts of conversations forward.

💪😅 Residents made a great effort to participate to the very best of their ability in our gentle stretches and exercises!

🎈😀 We also had a lot of fun with the balloon!

📖🤓 Residents greatly enjoyed reading the last of the stories written by Clare Balding from her book 'Heroic animals: 100 creatures who made the difference', one of the tales was about race horse Red Rum, residents then recalled their memories of Red Rum, and the 1970s generally. We had a lovely and lively discussion.

🐾☺️ And residents, again, greatly enjoyed their visit from PAT dog Isla. Isla is such a bundle of gorgeousness, residents can't help but fuss over her, thank you Isla, and owner Lisa, for bringing so much joy to everyone.
