Today is World Diabetes Day โ€“ a critical opportunity to raise awareness of an illness that disproportionately devastates Caribbean and African communities in the UK.

Approximately half of all Black African and African Caribbean people in the UK will develop Type 2 diabetes by age 80.
Also, people from Caribbean and African and backgrounds are three times more likely to develop Type 2 diabetes. Sources: Diabetes UK, Nihr.

Diabetes impacts our communities at higher rates, but with early testing, education, and healthier lifestyle choices, we can prevent and manage it effectively. Letโ€™s keep spreading knowledge, supporting one another, and building a healthier future for our people.
