Stunning Down to Earth Recovery retreat this weekend with great guest speakers and wonderful workshop from Gill - lovely trip around Gawsworth Church and brilliant drum session and cacao with Maria and Gordon and delicious food from Ms J. Plus real, raw and honest sharings from the crew and the elements and kind and loving hosting from High Lane Farm, Gawsworth - such a peaceful, gentle and kind retreat. As we walk into Dry January here’s a lovely pic of our Walk in recovery with friends in recovery last week - Dry January needs to stay Dry forever for me - I am allergic to alcohol - it affects my mind and body - I’m so grateful for recovery this walk is something I would never have done in addiction -- I am sooo grateful for my higher power for never leaving me -

When we are born we don’t get any training on how to live do we? How to cope with stress and trauma - so we learn to deal with it the best we can - I self medicated for years with alcohol and love relationships or should I say painful relationships, busy-ness and drama, rescuing people and wanting to be rescued - it worked for many decades but then it didn’t and my for started to fall apart bit by bit - I couldn’t understand why someone could have so much bad luck. Then one day I came across a website that said there is no God floating around on a cloud picking on you - you did it. Me… hell no. How could that be. I mean who would willingly do this much damage to oneself and life - but he was right - I was rhe coming denominator in all of it. Hard pill to swallow if you pardon the pun. Not that I took drugs. I used people instead. Same vice just different method. I drew these 2 sweethearts above - both me - one lost and confused and scared in active addiction - the other, me now. It is a death and rebirth that makes way for the new. Our old seld has to go.
