We’re beyond grateful for doing the work we do.
But when a fellow brother Royal Marine Ben Pointer attended one of our Curtis Palmer Program Charity Page. 10 day Breathwork & Cold water program 4 years ago when he needed support, then goes on to do AMAZING work like this, with a sole goal, to bring Breathwork credibility so it reach those that need it, it fills our hearts with such pride, gratitude and pure joy!
None of this would have been possible without Damien Isherwood and all at the Curtis Palmer program, and the support of the !
GOOD EFFORT ROYAL! 🫡❤️💚
“Finally, I dedicate this thesis to the veterans and police officers we have lost. Over the last year, more than 250 UK veterans and police officers took their own lives. May this contribution stand as a reminder that their lives mattered, as a tribute to their memory, and as a call to continue seeking better ways to support those who have given so much.”
The Curtis Palmer Program don’t just run expeditions and sporting events we run a stepping stone approach to helping service users with their physical and mental health wellbeing, based on the NHS 5 steps to better mental health wellbeing. Working in partnership with other professionals and leading Charities. Our Green and Blue focussed activities are all cabon neutral thanks to our Green Policy.
The help we provide is evidence based. We recently funded an academic study of our 10 day online breathing course (Run by the fabulous Sam and Miranda from The Breath Connection) by Ben Pointer, an ex Royal Marine, to conduct as part of his Master’s degree in Psychology with the University of Waikato in New Zealand.
The study found “large improvements across psychological measures, including reductions in self-reported depression, anxiety, and negative affect, alongside increases in mindful awareness and psychological flexibility.
The intervention was rated highly acceptable and feasible for home use. These findings suggest that structured online breathwork may offer a scalable, low-barrier pathway of support for operational personnel, particularly those who may be reluctant to engage in conventional trauma-focused approaches.”
Ben thanked the Curtis Palmer Program the Royal Marines Charity and The Breath Connection
“Your generosity in giving your time and support to this project reflects the same tireless commitment you bring every day to supporting veterans and police officers. The passion and dedication you embody are changing lives. I feel honoured to share this work with you.”
He also thanked the service users who took part in the study “the veterans and police officers who took part in this study: your willingness to show up, day after day, often in the face of your own personal challenges, is an act of courage. Your dedication reflects the strength of character that defines those who serve. Your commitment has already helped to shape effective pathways of support for others.”
