Our thoughts are not facts, and we have more power over them than we think 🤎

How we think, feel, and behave are all interlinked. If you feel anxious, your thoughts are more likely to be anxious, and this can lead to behaviours like avoidance.

We can break the cycle by challenging or not taking negative thoughts on board. If you feel you need support with this, our CBT therapists are here to help ✨

Feeling overwhelmed or anxious? Try this quick and easy breathing technique to bring calm and reset your nervous system 🌀

It’s called Box Breathing. A powerful, easy-to-learn tool to manage overwhelm, panic, or stress.

🟦 Inhale through your nose for 4 seconds

🟦 Hold your breath for 4 seconds

🟦 Exhale slowly for 4 seconds

🟦 Pause and rest for 4 seconds


Repeat as needed even just a few rounds can help shift your state.

Tip: Practise this daily when you’re feeling calm. That way, it’s easier to access when you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed. Some clients also use it before bed to help wind down and improve sleep ✨

Mental health is important every day, but today is a great day to talk about reducing stigma and opening conversations about how we really feel.

No one should have to struggle in silence. The more we speak openly about mental health, the more we create a culture where it's safe to ask for help and safe to be human.

This , let’s keep breaking the stigma, listening without judgement, and reminding each other: it’s okay to not be okay.

Not everything is in your control and that's okay ☕️💛

Focusing on your circle of influence means letting go of what's outside of your control and gently coming back to what you can manage: your thoughts, your boundaries, your choices.

In therapy, we use this idea often, especially in CBT, to help reduce overwhelm and regain clarity.

We had a fantastic time at our recent CPD and networking event, where we welcomed the brilliant David Knight for an engaging introduction to EMDR. It was a truly enriching evening full of learning, thoughtful discussion, and the chance to connect with fellow therapists in the warm and welcoming space.

Free CPD Networking Event to add to your Diary ✍️📔

Join us for our next professional meet up where we connect as therapists and discuss relevant topics, approaches, and modalities.

📚 Topic: Introduction to How Therapists use EMDR in Client Work
📍 Location: Prestwich Holistic Centre
⏰ When: Wednesday 10th September at 8pm

We look forward to having some brilliant EMDR therapists who use the centre come in and share how they work. There will also be space to discuss trauma informed client work.

You don’t have to be an EMDR trained therapist to attend. Any therapists or practitioners are welcome to come along, listen, ask questions, and be a part of the discussion.
