On the weekend, we had the privilege of attending a deeply meaningful street naming ceremony within our local community, where new street and park names were dedicated in honour of our local fallen soldiers.

It was a humbling experience to stand alongside members of the community and pay tribute to those whose lives will never be forgotten. Moments like these remind us of the importance of remembrance, respect, and unity.

It is an honour to be part of a community that comes together to recognise and preserve the legacy of those who sacrificed and gave so much for their loved ones.

Joel Halliwell, Lee Rigby, Scott Hetherington.

Lest we forget.

Grief walks through our doors
long before a family says a word.
It’s in the way they pause,
the way their breath catches,
the way the world seems too sharp
and too quiet all at once.

At Middletons Funeral Services,
we meet people in that fragile moment
when life has changed shape
and nothing feels familiar.
We offer a chair,
a warm voice,
a place where they don’t have to pretend
to be strong.

In Middleton, we’ve learned
that grief isn’t a single feeling
but a whole landscape —
memories that ache,
love that lingers,
silence that says more
than any words could.

We see how a family’s story
sits in every choice they make:
the favourite song,
the flowers they pick,
the way they speak a name
as if holding it gently in their hands.

And in those moments,
our work becomes more than service —
it becomes witness.
A quiet promise
that their person mattered,
that their life left a mark,
that their love is safe here.

Grief doesn’t disappear;
it softens,
it shifts,
it learns to walk beside them.
But for a little while,
in our care,
it can rest.
