We celebrated by decorating in tartan patterns, we looked for each child's heritage prints.
We read stories about Scotland and Nessy. We also enjoyed playing and dancing to bagpipes !

“When you go home, tell them of us and say, for their tomorrow we gave our today.”

We have been learning about Remeberance day, we know it is a celebration of the war being over. We touched on how people give their lives for our future.
We discussed that poppies are a symbol of peace and made our own.
We visited the fusilier museum in Bury and Unsworth Cenotaph.
At 11am we encouraged a 2 minute silence to think about the heros we have in our lives

Tonight Pauline and I attended 'Abusive head trauma and safer sleep session', we covered ICON and Safer Sleep.

What is ICON?
ICON is all about helping people who care for babies to cope with crying.
I - Infant Crying is Normal
C - Comfort methods can sometimes soothe baby and the crying will stop
O - it’s OK to walk away
N - NEVER ever, shake baby or hurt baby
More info can be found here www.iconcope.org

Safer sleeping stops SIDS
What is sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)?
Sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) is uncommon, but it does still happen. It’s important to be aware of the steps you can take to lower the risk. The Lullaby Trust is raising awareness of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and sharing the simple advice that reduces the risk of it occurring. Discover how you can get involved.

After hearing all about the fireworks and bonfires the children saw we visited the Fireground. We spoke about fire safety and who we call.
We enjoyed exploring the museum especially the play items!

Happy Halloween!
We have been learning about how Halloween originated from Irland, it symbolises the beginning of winter.
In Ireland faces were carved into room vegtables to light the way, we now use Pumpkins (jack-o-lanterns) which we enjoyed decorating and then exploring what was inside and what it tasted like.
We then enjoyed a party with Halloween games

Today we joined Besses Together / Besses Action Team on their Boz Park Community Walk led by City of Trees. We are hoping Boz will become a nature reserve for the community to enjoy for many years to come. Did you know why it is called Boz? A farmer donated the land to the community in memory of his late son Colin Boz Tracey

Happy Diwali!

We read our Diwali book to learn about what the festival was.
We decorated our own candle holders to represent diyas (oil lamps)
We crushed chalk and mixed it with water to create our own rangoli patterns
We searched how firework were made and then created our own colourful pictures of our fireworks before acting out being fireworks ourselves, we spike about us being far away from fireworks and how they can make a loud bang but they're very beautiful and represent 'there is always light after darkness'
We reached out to Hindu Cultural Association: Bury/North Manchester Region Multi-Cultural about a visit to a temple and we were invited to Gita Bhavan Hindu Temple Manchester , this was an incredible experience and the children loved the fruit they were gifted at the end.
We also got to try traditional foods
We hope everyone that celebrates have a wonderful time!

Rosh Hashanah to all those that celebrated. We loved joining in!
We visited the Manchester Jewish Museum where we were given a tour, looked at the lovely windows and read a story by Rick who works there.
We made our own stain glass windows on paper and windows, the colours were so pretty.
We looked at our Hebrew congregation and Whitefield Shul
We played the shofar which we could make go very loud!
We went to pick apples locally and then came back to try apple and honey!
