Hedley Jackson Funeral Directors We are a 3rd generation, family run, fully independent funeral directors based in Shaw, Oldham covering all of the UK.

We are a family-run, independent funeral directors offering high standard funeral services, including pre paid funerals to Shaw, Oldham, Rochdale, Saddleworth and surrounding areas. The business was started in 1958 by Joyce and Hedley Jackson. Hedley, originally a joiner, had previously worked for a local undertaker. His wife Joyce was one of the first qualified female funeral directors in Northern England. The company was originally based at the family home in Fraser Street, Shaw but later moved to 34 Rochdale Road. However, in 1968 a compulsory-purchase order forced Hedley to switch to another Rochdale Road site, where he bought three cottages, cleared the site and built the modern premises which are still home to the business today. In the early days Hedley hired funeral vehicles, but the company went on to acquire its own fleet, which prompted the construction of a purpose built garage facility opposite the Rochdale Road site. Hedley and Joyce’s daughter Debbie and her husband Ken, now run the business which is still very much a family firm, with Debbie’s sister Kay managing the office, further supported by a loyal dedicated team of staff. One of our proudest achievements was being nominated and subsequently winning the Pride in Oldham Business Award back in 2005. Debbie & Ken's children Sally & Sam have followed in the family tradition and joined the business. Sally obtained a Law degree at the University of Central Lancs and Sam obtained his degree at Leeds Metropolitan University and went on to get his Masters degree at Salford University. Sally & Sam have awarded their National Association of Funeral Directors Diploma. Both are proving to be great assets to the business and will ensure Hedley Jackson Funeral Directors remains an independent family business into future.

⚖️ Key Roles and Functions

Professional Standards: Sets a Code of Practice that all members must follow, ensuring high standards of care, transparency, and ethical conduct and conducts inspections and offers accreditation to uphold professionalism within the industry.

Training and Education: Offers professional qualifications and training through the NAFD Education Programme, helping members develop skills in funeral arranging, care of the deceased, and management.

Support and Representation: Represents the funeral industry’s interests to government, regulators, and the media. Provides guidance to members on regulations, business practices, and consumer rights.

Public Guidance: Offers resources for the public on how to arrange a funeral, consumer rights, and how to find an NAFD-approved funeral directors.

We are wondering whether anybody can help us or knows anyone who can?.. We are due to have our main garage demolished and rebuilt. In the meantime we need somewhere to put our vehicles (hearses and limousines), close by and preferably covered, for between 6-12 months. Any suggestions/recommendations would be much appreciated 😃🩵
