Hi, I’m Kati Edwards. I’m a doula and birthkeeper based in North Manchester UK. I am also a teacher trainer for KGH (formerly KG Hypnobirthing.)
Kati Edwards, mama of 2, doula, birthkeeper, hypnobirthing teacher, psychology graduate, dog mum, drummer in Drum Machine Book In at https://bookme.name/katiedwards My clients are based all over the UK and internationally. I help prepare them for their baby’s birth so they can stack the odds in their favour for a calm, comfortable, confident birth experience where they are in control. I am mama to two beautiful children Matilda and Seraphina who were both born at home using the techniques I teach. Before I was a birthkeeper, I worked in Psychology for the NHS and I have a Masters in Advanced Practice Interventions in Mental Health so I am all about helping the parents come away from birth feeling mentally strong and empowered. I have spoken Internationally on how to achieve positive birth experiences and I run both group and 1:1 programmes for mums, dads and birth partners. I take on private clients only. Please get in touch if you would like more information on how to prepare for your baby’s birth and how I can help you so that. The birth of my second child featured on the seminal and very entertaining BBC1 documentary "Childbirth All or Nothing" and I have been featured on BBC Family and Education and BBC Radio 5LIVE discussing how doulas can help women after previous traumatic experiences. I specialise in working with first time mums and their partners and also parents-to-be who have a previous experience of childbirth they would rather not repeat. Amongst the things you’ll learn with me are how to stay calm and in control, how your birth partner can help you give birth effectively so they feel part of the process too, the essential breathing techniques and mind hacks, movements to practice getting your baby in a good position and much, much more. Matilda is 13! I am so proud of her in every way. It is a delight to be her mum. Yesterday, we took her to Sapporo Teppanki in Manchester for a birthday treat which she absolutely loved and we also had a few lovely friends over for vegan delights and wholesome chat ❤️

WHY I JOINED THE DRUM MACHINE COURSE by Andy Waterworth
“It’s just great to be part of something in Tod. I was in a Boys’ Brigade band as a kid, but it’s been thirty-five years since I last hit a drum. As soon as Aid started talking about the musicality of drums, the gaps between notes, I was sold. And the sound of lots of drums… absolutely fabulous. Plus, I live in Portsmouth, between Todmorden and Burnley, so it’s convenient for me. In fact one of my neighbours is in the group.”
Andy’s reaction after attending week two of our four week course. He’d played drums before, but all experience levels are welcome - including complete beginners!
The next one kicks off Monday 7th March, and runs every Monday for the remainder of the month, 7.30-9pm in .
Add your name to the waiting list and we’ll contact you with further details. Link in bio.

How very sad for the people who want to give birth there. Home births or moving to another trust are great options for people who dont want to give birth on the birth suite at the hospital where it is statistically more likely people will end up with interventions…. Doula Kati

I am teaching KGH (KGHypnobirthing) today with the fabulous, esteemed midwife Maureen Collins so we cannot be at the vigils but we are standing with the midwives!
Many cannot speak out freely about the issues for fear of reprisal; the lack of autonomy for midwives, increasing medicalised processes without evidence of improving outcomes, the underfunding and understaffing

It’s Time To Reassess
I am marching with the midwives
I am standing by their side
There’s a crisis needing action
An urgent call to stem the tide
For the system isn’t working
It is dangerous for all concerned
Understaffed and underfunded
It’s leaving families burned
And the midwives, they are leaving
a profession they once adored
For every 30 newly qualifieds
29 jump overboard
Top down pressures, fear of litigation
Toxic hierarchical management, stifling innovation
A trend of medical intervention
Coursing through the nation
A trend of medical compliance
Autonomy for midwives is lacking
The government really must take note
And support with financial backing
Midwives can no longer do the job
They really need to do
With no breaks and increasing workloads
It’s not possible to see it through
This protest harbours 4 demands
To fix the broken system
I’ll sum them up as best I can
Please listen whilst I list them
First, please listen to the stories
Of the midwives on the ground
Their situation’s untenable
Requiring urgent turnaround
And listen to the families
Who arent getting what they need
When women, parents and babies aren’t well
Society crumbles at speed
Second, is to fund the staff
Retain skilled and valued forces
Create the jobs for new recruits
Fund students midwifey courses
Third, please enable self employed midwives
To return back to their careers
There are 250 who cannot work
It makes sense for them to reappear
Fourth, reduce demands on midwives
Like admin and feeding support
3rd sector providers could take the reins
So midwives don't fall short
Birth is a time of new beginnings
A time of hopes and dreams
But everybody loses out
When the system’s ripping at the seams
Fixing our starts in life
Right at the beginning
Is a vital investment to society
And the only way we’re winning
The maternity system is broken
Negligence payouts are crippling the NHS
A system wide review is urgently required
It is time to reassess!

Look what landed at my door today. A signed copy of Katharine Graves’ revised edition of The Hypnobirthing Book: Childbirth with Confidence and Calm
I feel very fortunate to be able to teach these invaluable skills and knowledge as a Teacher Trainer for KGH (formerly KG Hypnobirthing).
In fact, I go through the information in this book and more with all my doula clients. I believe this knowledge and these skills to stay in control are so important when giving birth in the modern world.
I wouldn’t want to be at a birth where mum doesn’t have enough knowledge to make informed choices or doesn’t have a toolkit of techniques to stay calm.
PS Please get in touch if you are looking for a doula and you live within 1 hr of Ramsbottom (BL0) or you are wanting to study Hypnobirthing 1:1 as first time parents or parents wanting a very different experience to last time

There is little more important than the way we are born.
Our society in 2020 has changed suddenly beyond all recognition and birthing mums and their partners now have a new set of policies and guidelines to navigate.
I can assure you that it’s normal to feel unsure or uneasy about the choices you need to make and what you need to do to birth your baby effectively.
I have been helping people and their partners have calm, confident and empowering birth experiences since 2011.
I'm Kati Edwards. I'm a KG hypnobirthing teacher trainer, Doula UK recognised birth doula, positive birth campaigner, conference speaker, writer, poet and the founder of Birth You In Love. I have appeared on BBC1 and BBC Family and education .highlighting the importance of doulas, midwifery led care and hypnobirthing.
Birth is not just about your body’s ability to birth your baby. It’s your mind too.
You need to be well informed and be able to access a deep level of relaxation so your innate wisdom can take over and birth your baby naturally and comfortably.
I can help you build a mental toolkit to deal with your baby's birth?
I can help you know your rights and the right questions to ask and where to get the answers?
Would you like to make sure you've got it all covered?
You're welcome to follow me on social media or book a free 30 minute discovery call to see if you would like to work on your birth journey with me.
With Love,
Kati Edwards, KG Hypnobirthing Teacher and Trainer, doula and founder of Birth You In Love x
