Fernando attends my 10am session on Saturdays at Lady James Hall in Irlam M44 and has lost over 50% of his starting weight to reach his target

His story

Fernando’s weight-loss journey is nothing short of extraordinary. After joining Slimming World due to growing concerns about his health, he made a decision that would transform his life. Everyday activities had become a struggle, and above all, Fernando wanted to ensure he would be around for his family. That powerful motivation sparked a change that has led to an incredible sixteen-stone weight loss, more than half of his body weight.

One of the most important discoveries Fernando made was that losing weight did not mean giving up the foods he loves. Slimming World showed him a flexible, realistic approach, with no calorie counting, measuring, or forbidden foods. By filling up on healthy Free Foods, meals became satisfying rather than restrictive. Favourites such as a burger in a bowl or a dirty chicken burger prove that comfort food can still have a place. Even better, the whole family now enjoys Slimming World meals together, making healthy eating part of everyday life.

Like many people, Fernando found holidays and celebrations to be his biggest challenge. Staying on plan during social occasions was not always easy, but with the guidance of his Slimming World group and consultant, he learned valuable, life-changing habits that helped him stay focused without guilt.

Fernando’s journey is a powerful reminder that while weight loss can feel like a personal battle, it does not have to be faced alone. By seeking support, he gained not just better health, but confidence, resilience, and a future filled with precious family moments.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our beloved founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE passed away earlier ...

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that our beloved founder Margaret Miles-Bramwell OBE passed away earlier today, surrounded by her family.

As well as being our guiding star and the beating heart and soul of Slimming World, Margaret will be remembered for being a much loved mum, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Since founding our precious organisation 55 years ago, she has loved, nurtured and protected it – along with each and every member, staff member and Consultant who’s been a part of the Slimming World family. Margaret steered her ship in the way she lived her life – with a generous spirit, passionate conviction, a wicked (and rebellious!) sense of humour and a fierce belief in doing the right thing.

Her determination to help people shed the burden of excess weight without shame or guilt has seen Slimming World grow from a single group in 1969 to the global authority in weight management that it is today. She undoubtedly touched hearts and changed lives for millions of people – and for all of us who knew and loved her. She’ll continue to do so for many more years to come.

Our thoughts are with Margaret’s family. We take comfort, as we’re sure they do, in the hope that Margaret is now reunited with her beloved Tony – sailing off into the sunset together. https://bit.ly/42F5Eia
