Running from what you feel takes so much effort, and I was reminded of that by a very wise therapist this week. ‘Feeling feelings’ might be what I support others to do for a living - but old habits run deep and I was a numb-er from a young age; always keeping busy, always moving, never feeling what was in my roots.
We all have ways to avoid emotion; alcohol, working, screens, whatever.
And that has its place.
Sometime zoning out is the kindest thing to do.
But running from what you feel comes at a price because it creates a cage; bringing limits to what you are and aren’t able to do.
True wing spreading happens where we soften into our aliveness in all forms; anger, grief, pleasure and joy.
We’re here to be brave enough to feel.
That’s how we show our babies what love is. That’s how we come home to our souls and remake our world.
And when all flavours of our emotions are allowed to take space - what’s there to be afraid of?
Nada.
When you
Soften in
Take a breath
And allow your heart to beat just as it is…
With deep kind care…
All is well.
And I’m right there with you.
