🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 6: Peter

“What do you do?”

Like the NASA janitor who said, *“I’m helping put a man on the moon”* — it’s always more than the job title.

Peter is an Operational Team Leader within the Ambulance Service Division at Mersey Medical Services — but his journey started on the frontline.

With a passion for high-pressure environments and helping people when it matters most, Peter worked his way up, gaining real-world experience before stepping into leadership.

Now, he leads from the front.

🚑 Supporting crews on the ground
📊 Overseeing daily operations
🤝 Driving standards and performance

For Peter, pressure isn’t a challenge — it’s what fuels him.

And as the organisation has grown, so has he — helping shape a service that’s not just bigger, but stronger, more professional, and focused on delivering high-quality care.

But what stands out most?

The team.

Because at Mersey:

👥 You’re part of something meaningful
🤝 People look out for each other
📈 Everyone is supported to grow

Peter isn’t just managing operations…

He’s supporting people.
He’s setting standards.
He’s part of the mission.

Together, we are stronger.

🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 5: Josh

“What do you do?”

Like the NASA janitor who said, *“I’m helping put a man on the moon”* — it’s always more than the job title.

Josh joined Mersey Medical Services 2 years ago looking for experience in emergency care… but stayed because of the people.

Starting as a Patient Transfer Attendant and now working as an Emergency Care Assistant with FREC4, Josh supports across Urgent Care, events, and frontline operations.

His role?

🚑 Preparing vehicles and equipment
🤝 Supporting clinicians on jobs
💙 Helping deliver patient care
⚙️ Keeping shifts running safely and smoothly

From helping relatives get to and from hospital appointments and admissions…
To responding to the most critical incidents — where hearts have stopped, and he’s helped bring them back…

Josh has seen every side of patient care.

It’s not always the part people see — but it’s what keeps the service moving.

Because at Mersey:

👥 You’re never just a number
📈 If you want to grow, you can
🤝 Everyone pulls together

Josh has grown with the company — gaining experience, stepping up, and becoming a key part of the team.

He’s not just doing a job.

He’s part of the mission.

Together, we are stronger.

🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 4: Ellis

“What do you do?”

Like the NASA janitor who said, *“I’m helping put a man on the moon”* — the answer is always bigger than the title.

Ellis joined Mersey Medical Services in 2021 as an EMT, looking for something different alongside his role with North West Ambulance Service.

He quickly found his passion.

From events and festivals…
To supervising at Manchester City…
To progressing through our Event Managers development pathway…

Ellis is now one of our Event Commanders — developing leadership skills in MIMMS, scene management, and operational briefings, while completing his Silver Medical Manager training.

He’s also proud to have been part of the opening medical command team at Co-op Live, and delivering internationally at events like Snowboxx 🇫🇷

But his journey is about more than progression.

Through his transition from EMT to Paramedic, Ellis had the full support of the Mersey team every step of the way — something he describes as a “second family”.

Because at Mersey:

🧭 Leaders are developed, not just appointed
🤝 Support is always there — 24/7
🚑 Every role contributes to the bigger picture

Ellis isn’t just commanding events…

He’s leading teams.
He’s shaping care delivery.
He’s part of the mission.

And that’s what makes the difference.

Together, we are stronger.

🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 3: Oliver

“What do you do?”

Like the NASA janitor who said, “I’m helping put a man on the moon” — the answer is always bigger than the job title.

Oliver’s journey into Mersey Medical Services is anything but ordinary.

From a decade working as a florist — even running his own business — to joining us in Patient Welfare at festivals and major events, Oliver’s path has grown alongside the organisation itself.

Now part of our Operations Support Team, Oliver plays a vital role behind the scenes — managing recruitment, ensuring compliance, and supporting staff as an in-house Mental Health Counsellor 💙

From 50 staff to over 300, Oliver has been part of that growth every step of the way.

But more than that…

He helps look after the people who look after everyone else.

Because at Mersey:

🌍 Every background is welcomed
🤝 Every strength is shared
📈 Every person is supported to grow

Oliver isn’t just working in recruitment or compliance…

He’s helping build the team.
He’s supporting the people.
He’s part of the mission.

And yes — somewhere in between all that, probably still finding space for more crystals… and watching Rihanna live again 👑

Because when everyone plays their part — no matter how different the role — the mission succeeds.

Together, we are stronger.

🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 2: Georgia

“What do you do?”

Like the NASA janitor who said, “I’m helping put a man on the moon” — it’s always more than a job title.

Georgia joined Mersey Medical Services nearly 3 years ago as a Patient Transfer Assistant, taking a leap of faith after working with NWAS.

Since then, she’s grown through the ranks — gaining experience in secure transfers, events and major stadiums, completing her FREC4, and now working full-time within our Urgent Care Service.

Georgia originally joined the ambulance service to give back after her own period of ill health — something that still drives her today 💙

Around the team, she’s known as “the princess” 👑 — and a valued part of the Mersey family.

Because she’s not just an Emergency Care Assistant…

She’s part of the mission.

At Mersey Medical Services, every role matters.
Every person counts.
And every story helps drive us forward.

Together, we are stronger.

🚀 10 Years of Mersey Medical Services
👥 Staff Story 1: Tracy

“What do you do?”

It’s a simple question — but like the famous NASA janitor who said “I’m helping put a man on the moon” — the answer is always bigger than the role itself.

Meet Tracy, one of our dedicated Ambulance Care Assistants, who has recently achieved her FREC 3 qualification.

Tracy joined Mersey Medical Services with a deeply personal motivation — to help others in the way she wished help had been there for her mum, who she sadly lost after battling cancer and the effects of a major stroke.

At the time, Tracy didn’t think she would get the role.
But she did — and now she’s a valued part of the team.

Today, Tracy is not just an ACA.

She is:
🚑 Supporting patients with care and compassion
🤝 Part of a team that looks after one another
💙 A colleague who brings positivity, humour, and kindness to every shift

From working at major venues like Manchester City, Manchester United, and Co-op Live to everyday patient care, Tracy plays a vital role in everything we deliver.

And just like that janitor at NASA…

She’s not “just” an Ambulance Care Assistant.

She’s part of something bigger.

Because at Mersey Medical Services, every role matters:

- The ACA providing reassurance to a patient
- The paramedic delivering advanced care
- The dispatcher coordinating resources
- The mechanic keeping vehicles moving

It all connects.

Tracy’s story is a reminder that behind every deployment, every vehicle, and every event — there are people who care, support each other, and believe in the mission.

And as Tracy looks ahead to completing her FREC 4, we’ll be right behind her — just like we are with every member of our team.

Because together…

We don’t just do the job.

We make it possible.

We were proud to stand side by side at the deploying 40 incredible members of the Mersey Medical Services team for the 6th year running. 💙

This wasn’t just about showing up.
This was about delivering safe, effective, and coordinated care at every level.

Strong leadership.
Clear communication.
Seamless multi-agency working in line with JESIP principles.

From first radio check to the final runner crossing the finish line, every moving part came together exactly as it should — because of the people behind it.

Our team didn’t just do the job… they owned it.

Supporting each other.
Stepping up without being asked.
Working alongside partners with professionalism and respect.

That’s what real teamwork looks like.

And at the heart of it all — care.

Every patient interaction mattered. Every runner mattered.
We led with compassion, treated people with dignity, and delivered the kind of care we’d want for our own families.

We don’t just provide medical cover.
We provide reassurance, presence, and trust when it matters most.

Here’s what the Course Director had to say:
“I wouldn’t look elsewhere. From start to finish the professionalism shines through. I know they’ll be there and the care and compassion is second to none. They just turn up and get the job done, right. Every time.”

That’s Mersey Medical Services.
Passion. Teamwork. Professionalism. Care.

If you want a provider that truly understands multi-agency working, lives and breathes JESIP, and delivers with consistency every time — we’re ready.

“What do you do?”

When President Kennedy asked a janitor at NASA that question, the reply was simple:
“I’m helping put a man on the moon.” 🚀

That mindset is exactly what drives us at Mersey Medical Services.

We’re not just deploying ambulances.
We’re not just covering events.
We’re delivering a mission — together.

Every day, we mobilise over 40 vehicles.
At weekends, we scale up with 100+ additional staff, from Responders to Doctors, all working across dynamic, high-pressure environments.

But what makes it work isn’t just numbers — it’s people who understand their part in the bigger picture.

Because at Mersey Medical Services:

Our frontline clinicians aren’t just treating patients — they’re delivering critical care when it matters most.

Our operations teams aren’t just coordinating — they’re ensuring seamless, safe delivery across every event.

Our planners aren’t just building rotas — they’re creating the structure that keeps everything moving.

And our in-house mechanic isn’t just fixing vehicles — they’re keeping the entire operation alive.

From on-site repairs and tyre changes to jump starts and keeping our fleet event-ready, they make sure nothing stops the mission.

Just like that NASA janitor, every single person in our organisation plays a vital role.

Because when everyone is aligned, committed, and understands the purpose — we don’t just attend events…

We deliver excellence.

Together, we are stronger.
