If you are interested in volunteering with St John Ambulance, here is the link to join. I recommend you register as soon as possible. The application process will involve an interview and DBS checks, then you will have to undergo compulsory training known as a 'pathway'. Make sure you apply to the 'LINKS' unit, as that is the university unit. Please get in touch if you have any questions about your application. If successful with the application, there is a training pathway which begins on the Saturday 19th October, which is specifically for the LINKS unit. I believe there is also another training pathway which begins Saturday 30th November but that is for everyone in Manchester so the places are more limited.
If you want more information about what volunteering with SJA involves, please ask ! Once a volunteer, we have unit meetings in Manchester city centre every 2 weeks, and then you will have opportunities to do first aid at local events, such as at the football stadiums or O2 Apollo.
As a First Aider at Events, you’ll help St John Ambulance provide first aid at large and small events within the community. You’ll be part of a team of volunteers delivering help where it’s needed, dealing with everything from a sprained ankle to a cardiac arrest.
