It breaks my heart to see the things that matter used as a political weapon. On my way from Shul on Shabbat, I passed a woman and her lovely daughters outside Key Foods asking for help. I passed because I see this so often. I returned, and had a chat with her in poor Spanish. She wanted to have a meal for her and her children. So I walked into the supermarket and would you know, Key Food has hot meals. I went back outside to find out if they were vegetarians or meat-eating. They eat meat. So I did the needed. That is what matters people. At least there is a place to ask. Dignity is lost for many. That is not what they want to do.

When I worked at UNDP in the 1980s, I used to make sure I have at least $10.00 I could give away to some forgotten person or to purchase a cup of coffee and a bagel for the person in the cold.

We must not be oblivious to the sufferings of others whether they look like us or not. My mom said, live to give and life will be beautiful.

I don't have much, but live to give. What mess! what a world!

Oh how the French and the U S government is happy for the state of Haiti.

Is it not time for the US and France to stop punishing Haiti for emancipating itsself from slavery?

It's time to push the oppressors knees off of the necks of a people who beat Napolean Bonaparte and shed the shackles of slavery.

Coupled with the Louisana Purchase, which was not just about Louisana, the people of Haiti has been driven into a downward spiral since.

Leaders like Aristide who perhaps would have led the country to some sense of real development and restore dignity was kidnapped and taken to a foreign land. And when Jamaica, a CARICOM State, saw the violation, they went to Afrca and took Aristide from exile to Jamaica and then the US destabised us again for the countless time.
