We are always looking for ways to enrich the lives of our residents - and today was no exception when some of our ladies put their gardening expertise and green fingers to work - sewing sunflower, lavender and other flower seeds into little pots 🌻🌷🪻

Ann commented, “This has been so lovely, it really has!”, whilst reminiscing about her time tending to her previous garden 🪴

Whilst memories of planting rose bushes in her parents’ Dublin garden sprung to mind for Lizzy.

Everyone is so excited to watch the flower seeds grow inside the sun lounge over the coming weeks, before they are planted out ready for the spring sunshine! 🌞

Blooming marvellous!

To celebrate last week, we were delighted to welcome our Regional Hospitality Manager, Richard Jones, who treated us to a wonderful reading of both well-known poems and some of his own original work ✍🏼✨

Richard shared a little about his creative journey:

“My writing journey began with music as I was writing songs for the bands I was playing in, so the lyrics were always important to me and I looked to write about things that everyone could relate to and reflect in their own lives.

As time moved on I started looking at more creative writing and started putting together stories and expanding on my lyrics by turning them into poetry with deeper meanings.

My latest release is called The Boy Who Sang, and is a collection of poems and short stories that explore themes such as love, loss, existence and redemption and will give the reader some time that allows them to self-reflect. The short stories are all character driven tales offering thought provoking meanings and all varied in their settings. They will entice the reader to keep turning the page.” 📚🤩

If you’d like to explore more of Richard’s writing, you can find his work available on Amazon :

We enjoyed a very jolly Red Nose Day for Comic Relief, which included plenty of giggles, themed decor and delicious cupcakes! 🧁🔴

The day kicked off with everyone wearing red, enjoying our monthly community coffee morning, with guest speaker Jacqueline Delaney of the Northwest Community Dental Service chatting about and learning more about the importance of mouth hygiene before and after brushing 🦷🪥

Followed by our afternoon fun party - where residents enjoyed wearing their red foam noses watching retro comedy classics - followed by an ABBA, Bee Gees and Everley Brothers sing along 💃🏼🕺

What a great ending to a fun-filled non stop day of joy, laughter and friendship ❤️

To celebrate , a few of our ladies and gents have been busy making their own delicious smoothies 😋

Everyone decided on their own favourite fruit combinations before chopping them up and popping them into a jug, ready to be blended and enjoyed. Many hadn’t tried a smoothie before, so it was an excellent way for them to make something, new, different and healthy, while getting in their 5 a day! 🍓🍌

Heidi really enjoyed her drink, however commented that the apples in hers tasted a ‘bit sharp’ and Wendy was over the moon as strawberries and blackcurrants are two of her favourite fruits 🍎🍉🍋🍒🍇

Top o’ the morning to ya! 🇮🇪

We spent a lively and fun filled St Patrick’s Day celebrating all things Irish, with a traditional sing a long to classic Irish folk music followed by a screening of Michael Flatleys Lord of the Dance show. From festive decorations to laughter and a touch of Bailey’s, Guinness and green lemonade cheer, it’s been a wonderful day shared with our amazing residents 🎶💚

Dublin ladies Lizzy and Angela were in their element, reminiscing about times past - celebrating with friends and family and of dancing the Irish jig at parties, learning about folklore (such as leprechauns) and ‘kissing the Blarney Stone.’

Slainte mhaith! (good health!) 💚🧡

Throwback to our Mother’s Day celebrations last weekend - so full of love and togetherness! 🥰

Our ladies and their relatives enjoyed a heartwarming day filled with love, laughter and plenty of cherished moments. Our kitchen team prepared a delicious spread of traditional finger sandwiches, freshly baked mini pastries and fruit topped fresh cream cupcakes, which they enjoyed accompanied by a glass of bubbly - rose lemonade! 🥂

Mothers in the home received heartfelt cards, thoughtful gifts and beautiful bouquets and baskets of blooms from family and friends 💐🌺

After enjoying their cream tea, we welcomed the Reverend Jane and members of the St Mary’s Church Partington congregation for Holy Communion - which included an uplifting selection of prayers, traditional hymns and stories ⛪️

What a memorable Mother’s Day!💜

Beryl and Margaret had a wonderful time celebrating 🔬✨

Together with our sister home Timperley Nursing Home, we enjoyed a lovely trip to the Science and Industry Museum in Manchester. It was a great opportunity for everyone to explore the fascinating world of science and discover some of Manchester’s rich industrial history.

Our residents had the chance to try fun experiments, visit the old history wing, and learn about some of the amazing inventions that helped shape the city 🤩

After exploring, we enjoyed a relaxing lunch with hot drinks, plenty of laughs, and great conversations. Beryl said the trip brought back lots of fond memories- especially of the times she’d get the train into Manchester or Bury to do a spot of shopping 🛍️☕

Margaret said, “What a lovely day we’ve had, I’ve really enjoyed exploring and learning about the history of Manchester. It was great to experience this with Beryl too.” 🥰

British Science Week is a nationwide celebration of science, technology, engineering and maths, encouraging people of all ages to explore and enjoy science. The Science and Industry Museum is one of Manchester’s most famous museums, showcasing the city’s important role in the Industrial Revolution and scientific innovation 🧪🧬

It was a fantastic day out filled with learning, smiles, and wonderful memories! 📸💜
