π¨ Reminder on specific non sterile alcohol free wipes π¨
UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) and the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), have issued a press release as a follow up to the previous one published 4th August 2025, reminding the public not to use four specified non-sterile alcohol-free wipes. The UKHSA is reiterating this advice in response to continuing detection of cases and a recent death attributable to Burkholderia stabilis infection.
The following products are affected:
- ValueAid Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
- Microsafe Moist Wipe Alcohol Free
- Steroplast Sterowipe Alcohol Free Cleansing Wipes
- Reliwipe Alcohol free Cleansing Wipes
Advice by MHRA that to date no people with cystic fibrosis have been affected. However, as people with cystic fibrosis are at higher risk of developing an infection, and as the wipes may be found in first aid kits and in homes, we have been asked to disseminate this information.

UKHSA investigated an outbreak of Burkholderia stabilis (B. stabilis). Their testing has identified the bacteria in several different 'alcohol free, non-sterile' skin cleansing wipe products.
