Hi, I’m Jasmin, the counsellor behind MyBeing Counselling 🌿 👋🏼

I work with people who look like they’re coping on the outside but inside feel unsure of who they really are. People who learned to adapt, keep the peace, be the strong one, or put themselves now feel stuck, lost, or exhausted by it.

A lot of what we call “just my personality” often started as ways of staying safe, being accepted, or getting through difficult experiences. Therapy can be a space to understand those patterns with kindness, not judgement, and begin to figure out who you are underneath them.

You don’t need to have it all worked out.
Just a sense that something isn’t sitting right anymore.

I offer online counselling across the UK, with a free 15-minute intro call to see if we’re a good fit.

🌿 Do you feel different? In ways you just can’t explain?

Have you spent much of your life feeling out of place, disconnected, or unsure who you really are?

Do you notice yourself:
• People-pleasing
• Over-adapting
• Hiding parts of yourself just to cope

And now… you’re tired of surviving.
You want to understand who you really are underneath it all, feel more secure in yourself, and finally experience a sense of belonging.

💛 You don’t have to figure this out alone.

I offer online counselling creating a warm, accepting space where you can be fully yourself, without judgement.

I was born in Hong Kong, adopted, and raised in England, and I identify as neurodiverse. I understand what it’s like to live between identities and never quite feel like you fit in one box.

In our work together, I gently help you:
✨ Notice patterns you may not see yet
✨ Explore new perspectives
✨ Build deeper self-awareness
✨ Develop self-trust and emotional safety

🤍 Reaching out can feel hard!! especially if you’re used to coping alone.

In our sessions, you don’t have to hide.

I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so we can explore what you’re looking for and see if I’m the right counsellor for you.

As we begin 2026 ✨ my first post of the year 😁

Although I completed my Certificate in Adoption Support Counselling 🎓 back on 3rd December, the busyness of Christmas and the New Year meant I wanted to pause and create some space to share this properly.

This is something I’m genuinely proud of and feels deeply meaningful to me 🤍. Especially after recently meeting my birth mum, completing this training feels like a real full-circle moment, while also knowing it isn’t, because there is still so much more to learn.

I’m looking forward to continuing to build on this area of my practice 🌱.

If anyone can recommend CPD or training focused on attachment, I’d really appreciate your suggestions.

Wishing everyone a positive and gentle start to the year ahead ✨

🌿 Renewed and Ready for Another Year! 🌿

I’ve just renewed my BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) membership 💚

The BACP is a professional body that sets the standards for ethical and effective counselling practice in the UK. Being a registered member means I follow their code of ethics, commit to ongoing professional development, and provide a safe and trustworthy space for my clients.

I’m proud to continue my work under the BACP framework, supporting others with compassion, professionalism, and care.

Here’s to another year of learning, reflection and growth. 🌱

✨ Big News from MyBeing Counselling ✨

I haven’t been as active on here lately, but I have something very special to share.

Before I began my counselling training, I wasn’t particularly interested in where I came from or what my early life experiences meant for me as an adult.

But through my training, I became curious about who I am and how my beginnings have shaped the person I’ve become.

For those who don’t know, I was born in Hong Kong and adopted shortly after birth. I spent the first few months of my life in an orphanage before being adopted by a British couple and we move to the UK when I was six.

During my counselling training, I completed an assignment on patterns of relating, which sparked a deep desire to find my birth mother. I began searching when I was 33, but despite help and support, it often felt like a dead end.

When I finished my counselling training, I wondered what my niche would be… and it became clear that my personal experience of adoption was at the heart of my work.

Adoption can bring a mix of emotions and challenges: identity loss, rejection, abandonment, trauma, and people-pleasing tendencies. I wanted to create a space where others affected by adoption could feel seen, understood, and supported.

To deepen my skills, I began further study with the Albany Centre to gain a certificate in adoption support counselling.

And quite quickly after I started my certificate something incredible happened!

I found my birth mother. ❤️

I have checked in at Manchester Airport on my way to Hong Kong to meet her for the very first time.

It feels like my personal and professional journeys have come full circle, a reminder that healing and self-discovery are lifelong processes.

Thank you all for following and supporting My Being Counselling. I can’t wait to share this next chapter with you. 🌿

🌿 What Do You Do After Sessions? 🌿

As counsellors, we hold space for others – their thoughts, feelings, and often their heaviest burdens. While it’s an incredible privilege, it can also be emotionally draining. That’s why what we do after sessions matters just as much as the sessions themselves.

For me, winding down and recharging is essential. I love playing pickleball – it gets me moving, clears my head, and reminds me that joy and playfulness are part of self-care too. 🏓✨

Whether it’s sport, reading, walking the dog, or simply sitting with a cup of tea, finding your way to reset helps you stay grounded and present for yourself and your clients.

💭 What helps you switch off and recharge after a day of sessions?

Confessions of a counsellor: see, we’re all human. ✨

“Every relationship is a mirror and sometimes, the reflection is hard to look at.”

Being alone often feels safe and calm, but it can also mean avoiding the parts of ourselves that only surface around others. When someone’s needs or boundaries clash with mine, I notice the triggers, habits, and emotions I’d rather not face.

This week, I felt anxious when someone close to me didn’t book something we were meant to do together. It stirred up old abandonment feelings something I thought I’d already worked through. But because I spend so much time on my own, those wounds hadn’t had much chance to show up.

We come to know ourselves not just in solitude, but in how we respond to the presence of others. And sometimes, that reflection is the hardest one to face.

Back to therapy I go. 💫

💭 How have your relationships revealed hidden parts of yourself?

✨ Wow, those 6 weeks flew by! ✨

I’ve spent alot of this time focusing on self-care, soaking up the sunshine ☀️, and recharging. As lovely as it’s been, I’ve really missed supporting people! it feels so good to be back volunteering at Mind and being part of such an important space again. 🌿

🌿 Welcome to MyBeing Counselling 🌿
Have you ever wondered what person-centred counselling actually looks like in practice?
Here’s my take on what I do and what sessions might look like with me: a space where you are truly seen, heard, and supported. You choose what to talk about, set the pace, and I’m here to hold the space for your journey.

✨ It’s that time of year again! I’m taking my annual 6-week self-care break from my volunteer counselling role at York Mind.

This helps me show up as my full, grounded self when I sit beside you, present, open, and ready to hold what you bring. 💛

Behind the scenes, I’ve also been working on some very special CPD, something deeply close to my heart and rooted in my own experiences. I can’t wait to share more with you when the time is right. 💛

If you’re seeking online therapy with me through mybeing counselling you can still get in touch during this time. Message me here or email jasmin.mybeing@outlook.com
I do have a few dates I’ll be away over summer, but I’m happy to chat availability via email.

See you soon,
Jasmin ❤️

The 30-Day Journaling Challenge is a guided self-reflection journey using one thoughtful prompt each day. It helps you slow down, tune in, and connect with yourself, all in just a few minutes.

Short bursts of writing make it manageable, and over time, these small reflections build powerful self-awareness and emotional clarity.

I came across this idea and found it so inspiring that I decided to create My Being Counselling’s own version designed to gently support your personal growth, emotional wellbeing, and sense of identity,
one page at a time.

I wonder if you fancy giving this challenge a go!
