Starting solids is meant to be exciting . . .but for many parents, it feels stressful and confusing - especially when your baby just isn’t interested in food.

At 7–9 months, some babies are slower to engage with solids, and that can be normal. But sometimes there are underlying feeding or sensory factors that make food feel hard.

If you’re worried about your baby’s feeding, I can help you understand what’s going on and create a clear plan.

Feeding difficulties can feel isolating, exhausting, and overwhelming - and yet, so often, parents feel like no one really understands what it’s like.

If this resonates with you, know that support does make a difference.

Early guidance from a feeding therapist can help your child’s eating skills, reduce stress at mealtimes, and make mealtimes feel calmer for the whole family.

Gagging during meals can look frightening - but it isn’t always a sign that something is wrong.

Some gagging is normal and protective, especially when children are learning new textures, finger foods, or drinking skills.

If gagging is brief and your child recovers quickly, that’s usually part of development.

If gagging is frequently distressing, or stops progress with eating or drinking, that’s a sign to pause and get support.

Feeding should feel safe - for children and parents.

Save this for later, or share it with someone who’s worrying about gagging.

TONGUE TIE MYTHS

There is so much mythology around tongue tie's. Especially for children aged 6 months and above.

Many parents will come to my clinic pretty convinced that a tongue tie is causing their child's eating and drinking problems.

90 Percent of the time it isn't the thing causing the problem. It can be hard to tell - that's why you may need a feeding specialist.

Book a call with me if you're not sure!

Some feeding challenges are part of development - but when difficulties are ongoing or affecting mealtimes, extra support can really help.

These are signs I often see when a child may benefit from feeding therapy. They’re not about blame or “bad habits”, and you’re not doing anything wrong.

If this feels familiar, you’re welcome to get in touch - or save this post to come back to later. You don’t have to figure it out alone.

✨ Parents know when something isn’t right ✨

If your child’s feeding feels off, your instinct deserves to be trusted and validated. Too often, parents are told it’s “normal” when it really isn’t- leaving you stressed, anxious, and unsure of what to do next.

You don’t have to navigate this alone. A feeding assessment can give clarity, support, and peace of mind.

Book your assessment via the link in my bio and take the first step toward a happier, calmer mealtime.
