Here is a little intro to who I am and why I love bringing Sketch Events & Socials to those that seek to carve out time to express themselves through their creative output and gain enjoyment through each process.
I guide my artists through each session, looking to empowering each one with a renewed sense of creativity. By encouraging alternative ways of thinking through the use of a multitude of tools and mediums, to also remain in the present through observation and using art as a vessel to explore personal expression.
I have always been a creative person, from a young age I could sit for hours making things and drawing. This inner artist has remained a big part of who I am though my career in marketing where thinking outside the box was a key to engaging audiences, being a parent creative thinking is the essence to teaching children to showing them the world that we live and I reignited with my inner artist who I decided was just bursting to break free - that's when I embraced my passion as an illustration artist who works with mixed media.
As I allowed my inner artist to surface I felt like I was finally who I was meant to be. It was at this time I decided to start up a local art group with a close friend of mine - initially started due to the lack of arts that were available for our children in school, which soon grew to provide art classes for young and old. An unrestricted art space, a place that wasn't governed by what school taught as art, but an open view on the world of art as available for all. Our ethos was that there is no wrong in art, there is no right, art is personal and is for all.
I still hold the above close to my heart, and after seeing the way Art healed... the way Art educated... the way Art encouraged creative thinking and seeing, and how this flowed through to people's lives when they took their work home. A reflection of achievement and a knowledge to be able to use the tools that they were taught (print, paint, sculpture, graffiti etc) either for their independent art or to appreciate art that they now saw in their worlds.
