Whether your child is taking their SATs, GCSEs or A-Levels, it will all be starting in the next few weeks.

For many families, this can feel like a significant and often overwhelming time of year, with increased pressure, higher expectations and a lot of anticipation building.

This is why at CAYP Psychology we have created our Exam Countdown.

Over the next month, we’ll be sharing supportive, clinically informed psychological advice and practical strategies that you can start using straight away to help your child feel calmer, more supported and better able to engage.

Oh, and make sure to follow us and comment 'CAYP' below and we’ll send you a free exam support resource pack.

Because while exams are important, how children experience this period matters just as much. 💙

We were amazed by the response to our recently developed teacher training series, where we supported 244 unique schools, across over 100 towns and cities across the UK joined us for our introductory session. 🚀

This isn’t just reach. It reflects how many school staff are currently holding behaviour, emotional wellbeing, complex needs, workload pressure, and the growing psychological demands of the role.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We hope our training and supervision continues to support senior leaders, SENCos and school staff in feeling more supported, connected and able to navigate the complexity of their roles 💬

The return to school after a holiday can feel surprisingly difficult.

For many children, it’s not about not wanting to go back, it’s about the shift in routine, expectations, and emotional demands.

At CAYP Psychology, we often see that these moments of resistance are actually moments of overwhelm.

If this season feels tricky for your child, you’re not alone and small changes can make a big difference. If you're looking for support, contact us and we'll be very happy to help. 🤍

If you’re already thinking ahead to Easter Sunday and wondering how it’s going to go…

You’re not alone.

For many children, it’s not just a fun day - it’s a day full of change, stimulation, and unpredictability.

And that can show up as meltdowns, resistance, or big emotions.

We’ve shared some simple, realistic ways to support your child through the day.

Feel free to share with family and friends!

Behind every child struggling in school, there’s often teacher trying to make sense of it.

At CAYP Psychology, we support children, families and schools with things like EHCPs, EBSA, school placements, and ongoing support for teachers and SENCos.

But we also know that supporting children starts with supporting staff.

That’s why we’re running our next live session:

Thursday 16th April | 4.15–5.15pm
Supporting Teachers to Manage the Most Difficult Aspects of Their Work
With Chartered Clinical Psychologist Dr Murewa Akintola and former teacher Ruby Cole.

This session will introduce a psychologically informed way of understanding what’s going on for you as a teacher, using compassionate mind principles, and will leave you with practical strategies you can actually use.

As Clinical Psychologists, we are becoming increasingly aware of how hard it is for teachers in today’s climate, and how beneficial it is for children and young people when they have a teacher who feels able to cope with the evolving and complex demands of the role.

Dr Murewa delivers training to NHS clinicians who support families with some of the most complex cases. Alongside Ruby Cole, a former teacher, she has tailored this training specifically for teachers and educators.

If you are a teacher, educator or professional supporting children and young people, this session is for you. We have designed a bespoke training session using a psychological, evidence-based approach, drawing on Compassionate Mind Training and will be running an introductory free session on Thursday 16th April 4.15-5.15pm.

In our guide written by Clinical Psychologist Dr Tania Fox, we explain:

• What happens during an autism assessment
• How to prepare children at different ages
• Ways to reduce anxiety before the appointment

Understanding the process can make the experience more predictable and supportive for your child.
