Children , anxiety and the digital world.

Did you know that in the children commissioner annual briefing 2025 1 in 5 children and young people now have a mental health condition. 40% of children have seen harmful content online in our ever growing digital world. It has never been so important to keep young people safe online.

Here are a few ways you can help keep your children safe online.

+ encourage healthy boundaries around online usage.
+ model good habits and behaviours because children learn from others
+ talk to your children about there time spent online.
+ teach children how to report bulling and harmful content
+ ensure you have set up privacy and parental controls correctly
+ share stories that explain life online such as smartie the penguin stories on child net.

Remember to keep you and your family safe this bonfire night.
To stay safe build fires away from everything else in a safe and controlled environment. Make sure you have access to water at all times. Monitor children , animals and vulnerable people closely. Never leave a lit fire or return to any fireworks and only ever buy fireworks that are CE marked.

Did you know that we all respond differently to fears?

When we are faced with something that we might think is a threat, your body goes in to a automatic reaction. Your body will either prepare your body to confront the danger ( fight response), escape it (flight), or become immobile and still( freeze). This is actually an ancient survival response triggered by our brain creating a surge of adrenaline. This makes our body ready for what it may perceive as a threat. While this can be very useful in life threatening situations , this response can become stuck, even when there is no real threat. This can be exhausting. It can increase anxiety, stress and other health issues. Hypnotherapy can help you to reframe anxious thoughts that trigger the fear response. It can help you to identify and modify your under lying triggers towards the response leading to improved well being and quality of life.

I personally have many different movies, artists and songs that I enjoy.
However, what I have noticed is that our entertainment can also bring important messages into our homes and lives.
Lewis capaldi shows us that being vulnerable can highlight a hidden strength but the world can also love you just as you are! Strong capable and determined.
