In 2021 I published my first solo book which was on male domestic abuse. What most of you may not know is that I took some heat for the narrative regardless of it being an insight into domestic abuse holistically. Sadly, whether it's in practice or scrolling through social media, I still see so many examples of abuse. One of the more common things I work with is separation. I've lost count of the amount of times I have asked clients if they are able to differentiate between a partner and a parent. When children's perceptions are deliberately shaped, it's psychological abuse. You may be questioning how I could know the impact of psychological abuse on kids... Because I usually end up working with those kids many years down the line when relationships with one or both parents have completely broken down. Abuse isn't just physical. In fact the vast majority of my clients have suffered various other forms. I see the effects every day.

Yesterday made me realise just how kind people can be, and reminded me of why I love my job so much. My last client of the evening told me how much I'd helped her and how wonderful at my job I was. The second time that day I was moved close to tears ❤️

I wanted to share with you all one of the most emotionally humbling experiences I have ever had as a Psychotherapist. I just had a session with a client remotely who I have worked with for some time. She told me she was in a good place and things were going well, so I asked her what made her ask for a session when I reached out to her. Her reply...

"I was so pleased to hear from you and had been really concerned. I just wanted to check in with you to make sure you were ok." A client just paid £55 to effectively see how her therapist was doing after taking time out. I was so overwhelmed and even now can't process that. I work with some truly amazing people ♥️
