Engaging Entertainment.....

Promoting engagement from our residents is an important part of our Activities programme in the home. This week, we invited new singers to Willow Tree, and they brought the lounge alive. As well as presenting us with a great show, they gave out instruments to involve residents in the music. This particularly benefited those residents who have sometimes found engagement difficult. It was a lovely session, and we are looking forward to holding another one soon.

Trousertastic fun!

OK, it's not Snakes and Ladders or Snap, that's for sure...but it is huge fun! At Willow Tree, we like to try some different stuff, and so we tried out a game involving oversized trousers - of course, we did!! Staff wore oversized trousers and moved around, whilst residents threw inflatable balls at them, aiming to land in the trousers. Simple right? Well, more difficult than you might imagine, but very funny, and it produced a lot of laughter in the home. Why not try something a little wacky next time you play a game....

Sixty Six - Clickety Click!...

Residents and staff had a fun time this week when we had a Prize Bingo session. Everyone loved the different calls coming out and the games were surprisingly competitive, with residents sometimes, dare we say it, shouting out Line and House when they really shouldn't have done. Still it's Christmas and non one was bothered - we all just had a great laugh.

A hectic schedule....

Here are a few pictures from just some of the activities that have taken place at Willow Tree recently. An outing for lunch for Annette, some time with Mr Motivator, Dotty and Sylvia enjoying a dance with Martin, one of our regular entertainers, and getting into the festive spirit with some tree decorating, and we have also been making our own decorations! Life's never dull here!

Come and Support our Alzheimer's Fundraiser...

On 5th December, between 9am and 3pm, Willow Tree will be open to all to come and join us for a cracking day's fun. Games, prizes, food, and drink, all to raise money for a great cause. We hope we see you at the home - everyone is very welcome.

Eye down for a full house.....

Here at Willow Tree House we have a new bingo machine, and residents really enjoyed playing last week. The session was part of our newly organised Monthly Prize Bingo competition, organised by our Care Coordinator Leanne. Our lovely resident Sylvia won the line, Alan won 2 lines, and Sue got the full house!

We have no doubt the machine will be out on a regular basis, as everyone thoroughly enjoyed playing.

A Special Day.....

Remembrance Day is always a special time in the lives of our residents....they all look forward to marking the day each year. This week, alongside remembering the fallen, we also celebrated the era of the Second World War with a lovely concert from local entertainers Kevin and Marie. They're regular visitors to the home and never fail to put on a fantastic show. Of course, we needed snacks to fortify us, and so puff pastry poppies were the order of the day. We hope you were able to mark the day in your own special way.

Marking Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day holds deep significance for many of our residents whose family histories are touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. The home will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

Recreating past enjoyment....

One of our lovely residents used to love painting Watercolors. So we decided to help them rekindle that experience and enjoyment. By buying some easy to use watercolour pencils and things to colour they were back being creative. They had a lot of fun and it brought their love for art back to life.

The power of Pets.....

Willow Tree House recently had its regular monthly visit from D&B Pet Therapy. They brought along a fantastic variety of lovely animals for our residents to enjoy. Having pets visit the home is a fantastic sensory experience for everyone, and you can see from the pictures how much the visits are enjoyed.

Colouring calm........

Every now and again it's great to just take things a bit easier. Let the mind relax and chill with some quiet time. Here at Willow Tree House some of our ladies have been doing just that and enjoyed some quiet time coloring and having a chat with a cuppa this week. Sounds like a perfect combo to us!
