Marking Remembrance Day

Remembrance Day holds deep significance for many of our residents whose family histories are touched by war, and today we will listen as they share memories from the past. The home will hold a period of silence and make sure that we honour the sacrifice of people in the two World Wars and other conflicts. We hope that going forward we can all learn to live in a more peaceful and harmonious world. We should never forget the sacrifices of those who fought so that we can live as freely as we do today.

Recreating past enjoyment....

One of our lovely residents used to love painting Watercolors. So we decided to help them rekindle that experience and enjoyment. By buying some easy to use watercolour pencils and things to colour they were back being creative. They had a lot of fun and it brought their love for art back to life.

The power of Pets.....

Willow Tree House recently had its regular monthly visit from D&B Pet Therapy. They brought along a fantastic variety of lovely animals for our residents to enjoy. Having pets visit the home is a fantastic sensory experience for everyone, and you can see from the pictures how much the visits are enjoyed.

Colouring calm........

Every now and again it's great to just take things a bit easier. Let the mind relax and chill with some quiet time. Here at Willow Tree House some of our ladies have been doing just that and enjoyed some quiet time coloring and having a chat with a cuppa this week. Sounds like a perfect combo to us!

Sharing at Harvest time.....

At Willow Tree our harvest festival collection always produces a great collection of items that we can give to our local community. This year we has been no different and we were able to donate a large amount of groceries to one of our local food banks. It's a really good way of involving our residents in their local community and allowing them to make a contribution.

A lovely trip out....

Our lovely residents, and good friends, Jackie and Sue, had a great trip out recently. They visited the Mansfield Museum, where they saw a huge variety of fantastic display cases and information boards about the history of their local area. Of course, a cup of tea was involved too. As you can see from the pictures, they had lots of fun and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

Supporting the Reds!

Our lovely resident, Helen, is an ardent Forest supporter, and so she jumped at the chance to see them at our local pub. Of course, you can't watch footie without something to eat and drink. So some fish and chips and a few cappuccinos were the order of the day. Helen had a great time!

Giving back....

Our staff and residents are always thinking of ways they can give something back to their local communities. Which is why recently at Willow Tree House we have been collecting items for our local food bank. Response has been great and we hope to be able to make a sizeable donation. If anyone is passing the home in Mansfield and wants to contribute we would be very grateful.

Keeping things moving....

As we get older it's really important to keep our joints and muscles active. Use it or lose it as the saying goes. Which is why at Willow Tree House we get regular visits from MR Motivator for some healthy indoor exercises. Exercise with Mr motivator last week keeping us moving! The sessions are always great fun and they keep everyone moving!

Out and About!

Our Activities Coordinator Ashleigh went out on the town recently with one of our lovely residents, Susan. After a good look round the town centre they stopped for a cuppa and a delicious cookie. Susan thoroughly enjoys her trips out and its always a pleasure to take her to town.

Animal therapy.....

We had some lovely visitors at the home recently...including a chameleon and some guinea pigs! As you can see from the pictures our residents thoroughly enjoyed having the animals visit them. It was a great tactile and sensory experience for everyone involved and is always a highlight of our activities calendar.

Happy Birthday Gerrard!

Our lovely resident Gerrard turned 66 recently, and we all wanted to wish him the happiest of Birthdays. He loved his balloon and received some lovely cards and presents. He would like to thank everyone for making his day special. Here's to 67 Gerrard!
