HOLDING YOU IN A SAFE, COMFORTABLE SPACE.

When you come for hypnotherapy, you have already made some really important decisions. You have decided that you want things to be different and you’ve decided to invest in yourself to help bring about whatever change you want to see.

This commitment to yourself and your future is the start of your journey. But you won’t be going on that journey alone. I will be firmly by your side, holding your hand and supporting you all the way.

I will hold a safe, comfortable space for you to explore whatever is holding you back. I will help you to release any unhelpful thoughts and beliefs. I will select the therapeutic tools that I know will help you. I will give you the opportunity to make whatever changes you need. I will guide and support you to find new perspectives, new ways of thinking and different ways of responding.

I will support you to heal, reset, refocus but I can’t do the work for you. We will work together, but you will always be in charge of your unique journey. Hypnotherapy requires trust and a joint commitment. It is important that you trust me to help you and keep you safe but it is equally important that you trust yourself. Together, we will commit to work at your pace on whatever you want to work on, in whatever way works best for you.

At the beginning of every session we will talk about how you are, what you want to work on and next steps and we will review all of this at the end of each session. I will offer suggestions about the best way to proceed and tailor the tools and techniques to you, but the choices are always yours.

Reach out if you think you’re ready to make some changes. If you want to feel different but you’re not sure whether hypnotherapy is right for you, I am happy to chat about the different ways I can support you so that you can decide if we’re a good fit to work together.

THANK YOU!

Running your own business is hugely rewarding but it can also be very challenging and lonely at times. As a small business owner, I do all the jobs – admin, finance, marketing, cleaning and of course the most important one, providing hypnotherapy to my clients. I have to be a 'jack-of-all-trades' and find the time and energy to juggle the many different things that need doing.

When it feels overwhelming, when it feels difficult, when it feels impossible, I am always heartened by the support you give me.

ACCEPTANCE

However you feel right now, is how you’re meant to feel.
Wherever you are right now is where you’re meant to be.
The person you are right now is who you’re meant to be.

How do you feel when you read those statements? It took me a long time to realise the importance of acceptance and the powerful role it plays in helping us to develop, grow, adapt, change and respond to all that life gives us.

It is powerful because it allows you to acknowledge and accept who you are, how you feel and where you are in your life without judgement. Simply seeing something as it is, without defining it as ‘good’ or ‘bad’ allows you to be compassionate with yourself.

Acceptance allows you to love yourself completely.
Acceptance allows you to treat yourself with kindness and gentleness
Accepting without approval or disapproval leaves you free and open to learning.

Practising acceptance does not mean that you want things to stay as they are. It is a way of learning to take control in the moment so that you can focus your energy and attention in a positive way.

By acknowledging and then accepting thoughts and feelings without judgement, you are free to make room for them, learn from them and then let them move on.

Because nothing is permanent. How we feel, who we are, where we are TODAY does not determine what will happen tomorrow. But dwelling on these things and judging ourselves can keep us stuck, making it more difficult to move forwards.

Acknowledgment and acceptance are the first steps to change. If we use our energy to learn about ourselves and our current situation, without judgement, we can identify if we need to make changes and where we want to go next.

So, whatever you feel and wherever you are in your life, acknowledge and accept that this is where you’re meant to be right now.

THE BENEFITS OF HYPNOTHERAPY

When you hear the word hypnosis, what is your first thought? Most people think of a stage hypnotist making people cluck like a chicken.

But the reality is that hypnotherapy uses hypnosis as a therapeutic tool to help people heal and change themselves. The hypnotherapist has no control over you. They simply give you opportunities to explore, understand and makes changes for yourself.

Hypnotherapy can help you:
💚 Feel calm and relaxed which can also help you sleep better
💚 Replace unhelpful sub-conscious thoughts and beliefs with new, positive thought patterns
💚 Reduce stress and anxiety and will give you the tools to manage life’s ups and downs more easily

SIMPLE WELL-BEING BOOST
The weather and an on-going (but improving) health issue have kept me stuck inside. To distract myself from feeling grumpy, I spent half an hour scrolling through my summer holiday photos (the photo is me by the sea in beautiful Dorset). I was instantly taken back to happy times filled with sunshine.

Being close to the sea is one of my happy places. There is something really calming and soothing about watching the waves rolling in and listening to the sound of the water as it reaches the shore. In this environment I am instantly relaxed. My mind becomes quiet as my attention is focussed on the world around me – the beautiful sights and calming sounds, the scents of the seaside, the feel of the warm sun, the sand and pebbles and the taste of salty air and salty chips.

As I sit by the sea, absorbed in the world around me, I am also very much absorbed in the present moment, using all of my senses to be there. It takes no effort but it really helps to make me feel positive and energised.

And scrolling through my photos had exactly the same effect. It immediately took me back to that time and place. The sights and sounds, the taste and smells and the feeling of being in my happy place come flooding back. Suddenly, I felt so much better. I had found a simple way to distract my mind from dwelling on negative thoughts. The photos shifted my thinking and made me focus on positive thoughts and feelings. In no time at all, I was in a new, happier frame of mind.

Not only were my spirits lifted, I also felt inspired by the memories to write a new audio for one of my clients, based on being at the seaside.

Next time you’re feeling a bit low, try looking back at some happy photos and transport yourself back to that time. Sometimes the simplest things can lift you up and move you forward.

I often talk about self care being sooooo important and this summarises lots of different ways to look after yourself.

Are you filling your own cup every day or do you spend your time filling other people’s cup while you leave yours empty?

You absolutely can do both and you’ll be much better at helping others if you help yourself at the same time.

Recently I’ve been very under the weather after being hit by two health issues at the same time.

It definitely wiped me out and I’ve been out of sorts for almost a month.

Last weekend I managed to spend some time with one of my oldest and dearest friends in lovely Lincolnshire and we managed to get to the coast 🎉

I don’t know about you, but for me, being by the sea and walking along the beach is one of Mother Nature’s best cures 💚

I always feel better when I’m at the seaside. Always. Regardless of the weather, regardless of where. It has the most amazing, calming and soothing effect on my mind and body.

It didn’t cure my pain. It didn’t repair my damaged shoulder. But it made me relax and forget for a few hours. It enabled me to release and let go of the tension I’d been carrying around for weeks. It definitely helped me feel better.

Never underestimate the restorative power of the natural world.
